Ok I got some pickup covers for my Studio with The stock JB and 59 installed. Now how do I install these covers. What kind of wax do I use? Candle wax or canning wax or does it matter? Also I have heard of using 2-sided tape instead of wax can I do this if so do I still need to solder them? Please help.

The easiest way to get good results would be to put some two sided tape on the slug coil under the cover before soldering it on. This will take out the air gap that can cause microphonic squealing and is a lot simpler than dipping the pickup in wax. Drop a little solder on the baseplate to fix the cover on tight and you should be good to go.

Or, you could do it that way.

Use the search function. There was a big thread on that about 8 months ago. Of course, I'm only 12 years old also.

Well I didn't use the 2-sided tape or the wax. when I tried the tape my polepieces looked like they were too low. The covers were tight enough that I didn't have to use anything. I just slide 'em all the way in and soldered them. Haven't had a chance to plug them into a real amp yet so I hope they aren't microphonic. I like a lot of gain so I have my fingers crossed. But they look badass!

I did discover that my bridge pup is a '59 though and not a JB. I have always liked my bridge pickup alot and often wondered what so many could have against the JB b/c I loved it. Well I was lovin' the '59 all this time.

BTW thanks Greg! Everytime I call BCR it feels like I am calling up an old pal for a chat. I love your service man! And I loved the message and artwork included.
