pluto Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 I've owned three Suhrs and still own one. As (mostly) everyone said, the build quality is exceptional. Great selection of woods, impeccable fretwork (due to the plek machine), and IMO, great pickups. Comparing Suhr to Anderson is like apples and oranges. They both make excellent guitars, but have a way different vibe. I have one of each along with two D'Pergo's and they all are exceptional guitars (for bolt on guitars ).
ford Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 I prefer Grosh's and Andersons over them.....I prefer my Robin Wrangler to the Suhr tele style I played also.but they are very good guitars. Many people love them much, long time.bford

tombo Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Comparing Suhr to Anderson is like apples and oranges. They both make excellent guitars, but have a way different vibe. Thanks Mark (pluto). I couldn't have said it any better. Suhrs are great guitars Greg. I'd love to have one to go with my two Andersons. The Suhr line would make a great addition to your store along with Hamer. You'd have a great one-two punch and a great selection for the bolt-on crowd and the neck-thru crowd.edited to add: And don't forget Don Grosh either. Another great bolt-on guitar and another vibe. The most "vintage" of all of them (Anderson, Grosh, Suhr, Tyler) IMO.
jettster Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 I liked all of the ones that I have played in all respects.
rmahurin Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 I dig the Reb Beach model -- Koa body and solid Pau Ferro necks.
Hamer95USA Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Great guitars. One of the best bolt-on you can buy. The amps are even cooler. The OD-100 Classic and Classic+ are probably the best channel switchers for us old farts that love vintage Marshalls but need more than one sound. Hey guys, +1 for John Suhr guitars & the CAE OD-100 amps. John builds guitars, pickups and amps. He has all sides pretty much covered as a builder. His OD-100 amps are one of the best channel switching amps on the market with a clean blackface Fender channel & a modded Marshall tone in the crunch channel with a lead boost. I would love to have the Reb Beach model and an OD100SE amp head for my collection. Guitar George
gkelm Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 I'm the only guy I know of that didn't like his Suhr guitar. It was a Swamp Ash Tele in a beautiful Black Cherry finish that I scored off Ebay. I didn't get a long with the neck shape plus it was heavy as hell. The good news is that I sold it for a profit. It was only one guitar and everybody else seems to love them. I had a gorgeous Standard, amber quilty-flame, hum-sing-sing, the works...just did not bond with it--feel or tone. Fantastic quality, no complaints there...now my TA Cobra, that's another story. Greg

Guest Meshuggah Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 Craig Schwartz playing a Suhr Classic with V60LP neck/middle PU through a Barber Tone Press (Blend 1 o clock, sustain 1 o clock) into a Barber Echelon set celan.http://barberelectronics.com/craigpress.mp3
salem Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 I'd really like to get a Suhr classic. Can anyone recommend an excellent online store to order from? Can anyone explain how the blend control works?
salem Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Please disregard my question about the blend control; I did a google. I guess maybe Indoorstorm might be a great dealer for Suhr? The Pro series sounds like a great deal, what do you think?
