The clouds prepare for battle

In the dark and brooding silence.

Bruised and sullen stormclouds

Have the light of day obscured.

Looming low and ominous

In twilight premature

Thunderheads are rumbling

In a distant overture...

--Jacob's Ladder

Awesome

i LOVE that tune, esp the riff in 13 (i think?).

i think phil lynott's lyrics are better than most;

"there are people who dispise you,

who analyze and criticise you,

they'll scandalize and tell lies 'til

they realize they should apologize, too.

don't let them comprimise you,

be wise too,

you can do anything you wanna do".

My Favorite lyric is always the one I just wrote.

SOMETIMES YOU GOTTA RUN

SOMETIMES YOU GOTTA WALK

SOMETIMES EVEN CRAWL

GIRL YOU GOT ME WALKIN'

CAUSE I'M TIRED OF CRAWLIN'

GUESS YOU KNOW IT'S TIME TO RUN

chorus from 'TIME TO RUN'

One Banana, Two Banana, Three Banana, Four

Four Bananas make a bunch and so do many more.

Flippin' like a pancake, poppin' like a cork.

Fleagle, Beagle, Drooper and Snork.

Makin up a mess of fun,

Makin up a mess of fun,

Lots of fun for everyone!

Tra-la-la

La-la-la-la

Tra-la-la

La-la-la-la.

Four Banana, Three Banana, Two Banana, One

All Bananas playin' in the bright warm sun...

OK, that was one of the first records I ever got (from a box of Kellogg's cereal-still have it).

There are lots of lyrics that blow my head off. Sometimes, it's just a word-other times it's a phrase. I've always liked that Lit lyric. My current fave is by the Shazam (who have TONS of killer lyrics put to amazing power pop).

Destiny's in her evening gown

You're always running late

You tell her she looks wonderful

But she'll just have to wait.

more lit.

I'm so addicted to you...and you're such a dick to me

She flies me out

Got a big surprise planned

In Chicago (oooh-ooh)

That's my kinda town

She says she's been a hoe

Had to let me know

On the Jerry Springer Show

CHORUS

guitar solo

I wrap myself

Around her little finger

And she gives me the middle one

CHORUS

She calls and I come runnin' back

I call, she never calls me back

What's wrong with me

I'm so addicted to you...and you're such a dick to me

Steve,

Have you heard this b4? I have it. It's pretty cool. It has your song on it by one of my favorite gals - Liz Phair...

Saturday-Morning-Cartoons-Greatest-Hits cd

I'd heard about that soundtrack, but never got to check it out. Isn't Matthew Sweet on that one too? Will DEFINITELY have to check it out!

Liz Phair does that with Material Issue (before Jim offed himself, obviously!). Matthew Sweet is on that CD, as are the Ramones and a few other favorites.

IMHO-Pink Floyd's The Wall is chock-filled with cool lyrics..

This is a fave:

Hey You (Waters)

Hey you, out there in the cold

Getting lonely, getting old

Can you feel me?

Hey you, standing in the aisles

With itchy feet and fading smiles

Can you feel me?

Hey you, dont help them to bury the light

Don't give in without a fight.

Hey you, out there on your own

Sitting naked by the phone

Would you touch me?

Hey you, with you ear against the wall

Waiting for someone to call out

Would you touch me?

Hey you, would you help me to carry the stone?

Open your heart, I'm coming home.

But it was only fantasy.

The wall was too high,

As you can see.

No matter how he tried,

He could not break free.

And the worms ate into his brain.

Hey you, standing in the road

always doing what you're told,

Can you help me?

Hey you, out there beyond the wall,

Breaking bottles in the hall,

Can you help me?

Hey you, don't tell me there's no hope at all

Together we stand, divided we fall.

"Comfortably Numb" is another killer...

Rosanne Cash has some great lyrics.

Like Fugitives

The priest is prayin' for your soul

And the doctor for your heart

Someone tell me how to live

Now that we must live apart

Once we had a mother

But that's all over now

So wish her well and let her go

Just as soon as you know how

It's a strange new world we live in

Where the church leads you to hell

And the lawyers get the money

For the lives they divide and sell

And the only truth believed in

Is the one upon the screen

So we live our lives like fugitives

And we were born to live like queens

And it's not hard to figure out who she's talking about here:

Black Cadillac

It was a black Cadillac drove you away

Everybody's talkin'

But they don't have much to say

There was a black sky of rain

None of it fell

One of us gets to go to heaven

One has to stay here in hell

Now it's a lonely world

Guess it always was

Minus you and minus blood

My blood

It was a black Cadillac

Like one you used to drive

Now you were always rollin'

But those wheels burn up your life

Oh, it's a black heart of pain that I'm wearin'

Suits me just fine

Oh, there was nothin' I could do for you

When you were still alive

Yeah, it's a lonely world

Just a numbers game

Well, a hundred years

Will find me feelin' just the same

Yeah, it's a lonely world

I guess it always was

Minus you and minus blood

My blood

Well I'm the eighth generation to grow my own

Butter beans, tobacco, a little pot in the corn

Got four black angus and a belted hog

Chickens 'round the house and a country dog
