Hamerhack Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Let's say you've somehow gotten yourself invited to a party... (okay, so maybe you crashed the party)Regardless of how you got there, somebody passes you a guitar and everyone says "play something!"So it's just you and a guitar (and your voice, if you sing). What's it gonna be? What's your sure-fire showcase solo number foracousticelectric?
discountsounds Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 For acoustic, it's almost always "If Only You Were Lonely" which is an old b-side by The Replacements (although it was really just Paul on acoustic guitar). Great lyrics with cowboy chords in the verses and a jazzy little progression in the chorus.
DavidE Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Is it a singalong campfire kind of deal? Is crowd participation likely? Some good acoustic ones:Country Roads - Johnny DPink Houses or Jack and Diane Johnny CSensitive singer/songwriter stuff: JTGot backup singers? AimeeNeed some Beatles? Here Comes the Sun by George

shredmeister Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 An original - that's what I always play. Or I will make something up on the spot if the mood is right.
Jimbilly Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Ghost riders in the sky (Riders?). Yippee-aye-ayyyyyyyy, Yippee-aye-ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... Cool song, and always gets a positive response, lounge it up a little. an old cowpoke went ridin on one hot and windy day, upon a ridge he rested as he went along his way...
