jettster Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 There are a ton of good guitars out there, I'd go with what you think sounds and plays best. For me that was a Martin.
sonic1974 Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 I'm mainly an acoustic player.+1 for Breedlove (had an SC25)I play Larrivee myselfAlso like the new Guilds. But, like Greg said, in that price range lots of great options.Which model of Larrivee do you have? I've played a couple, and I really loved them. I'm shopping around for a new acoustic in the next couple of months, around in the 2000$ range. I'm leaning towards Larrivee now, but I'm not stuck on it. I'm going to get a used one though, that's pretty much my policy when buying guitars, you get a better deal everytime.rob
Buzzy Fretts Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 I'm a martin guy myself. (woody vrs chimey harmonic overtones) but if you're thinking taylor, check out the breedloves before buying. on the Martin side, consider sidestepping the dred and look to either an OM or 000, the latter if you expect to play lots of rock or blues riffs woven into your rhythm. install an aftermarket K&K Pure Western hybrid (internal mic and bridge-plate mounted system). you won't be disappointed.

I use Tomastic Infeld strings to cut back on swirling overtones and focus more on the wood. FYI The quieter tunes recorded better because they avoided phase issues with the vocal mic.
Jeroen Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 I have my Guild for about 8 years now and I am still happy with it everyday! BTW so we keep it now in the family:) LOLAlso played some Martins and a Santa Cruz.....the last one might be over your budget....but great stuff!!!Jeroen

Yeah, I'm quite satisfied right now! I guess I have just about every guitar I need or want! Just a Martin 000-28 is the only instrument I ever wish for nowadays, but there's honestly no real hurry. I am very lucky!
sirDaniel Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 I owned an ADAMAS CVT with the carbon fibre top and was hugely happy. Electronix were tops and the thing boomed acoustically. If you must go plugged in, thats a top choice.see our brothas on the www.ovationfanclub.com site
