zbeluhan Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Hi everybody,i saw Michael Schenker at the Musikmesse Tradeshow over here in Frankfurt-Germany.He's such an incredible and inspiring guitar palyer and was in top condition. He palyed with playback a lot of UFO and MSG stuff.I thought i should tell you this if you get the chance to see him it's worth it.The Mercedes Benz Star tatoo on his elbow seems a little bit strange to me.
zbeluhan Posted March 17, 2008 Author Posted March 17, 2008 Any pics? What guitar was he playing? He was playing a dean Flying V, i couldn't take any pics 'cause there were so many people in that small room. After the show all the guitar players took pics from his pedals and settings. Crazy.
Gitslide Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 I have tried multiple times over the past 20 years or so to see Schenker. Cancelled shows, all of 'em. If and when he ever gets his (business) act together, with LUCK, maybe I'll see him. He is one of my two most favorite rock guitarists. I see him as the "link" between the blues based players of the 70s and the shredders of the 80s. He's incredible.
zbeluhan Posted March 18, 2008 Author Posted March 18, 2008 Michael Rocks! Is that a Hamer or a Gibson? Looks great. I have tried multiple times over the past 20 years or so to see Schenker. Cancelled shows, all of 'em. If and when he ever gets his (business) act together, with LUCK, maybe I'll see him. He is one of my two most favorite rock guitarists. There are a lot of good players on this planet but Michael is the one that has the inspiration and the fluency. He's also the master of dramaturgy. It's good to see him in good condition again.
shredmeister Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 There is no one single best guitarist but Schenker is definitely one of the best.Has just about the most expressive vocabulary of vibratos I have heard and his melodic sense is better than just about any player out there.Very interesting article on him at www.dinosaurrockguitar.com

The more I listen to him, the more I would like to play like that: not too much shredding, no overplaying... just this tasteful and fluid soloing. I see now from where Marty Friedman developed his own style.
