Dumo Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 Nick Oliveri from Queens of the Stone Age for sure. I just got an excellent SB recording from 2002 Amsterdam and man they were on fire back then. Mark Lanegan and Dave Grohl too. J Mascis firing Lou Barlow from Dinosaur Jr. was an unwise move as well. Chuck Biscuits leaving Danzig. Chuck Dukowski getting booted from Black Flag. Iggy Pop ousting the Stooges. Ramones without Dee Dee.
Siaip Ciuvas Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 nothing AIC released after the first two albums rocked nearly as hard. The missing ingredient? Mike Starr....I always tought it was more due to heroin addiction?
Mindseyes Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Nick Oliveri from Queens of the Stone Age for sure. .+100...The last few CD's without Nick have just been so-so
Steve Haynie Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Night Ranger, post "Fitz".I believe "Fitz" played in the last version of Montrose before they sunk. There's a nickel's worth of trivia for ya.Fitz was with Sammy Hagar when Sammy's band was basically the classic line up of Montrose.
tommy p Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Phil Rudd of AC/DC. To a fan, he's no bit player, but to most of the world, Angus is the only one who matters. Chris Slade did a good job on Razor's Edge and the double live album that followed though. They still haven't recovered fully and Phil's back! New album this year, so we'll see.Any one of the guys from Ted Nugent's first album. Ted was/is/always will be all about Ted, but as each one of those guys left, the feel and attitude took another slight dip and it became almost a parody of itself.Tom Peterson of Cheap Trick. Again, to a fan, not a bit player. Of course, he came back and they're making killer albums again and no one cares.
Jones Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Jeff Cease, Marc Ford and Johnny Colt from the Black Crowes.
cmatthes Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Jeff Cease, Marc Ford and Johnny Colt from the Black Crowes. No Audley?
Aceldama Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 nothing AIC released after the first two albums rocked nearly as hard. The missing ingredient? Mike Starr....I always tought it was more due to heroin addiction?Hell, Alice in Chains sorta sucked without heroin.
elduave Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Jeff Cease, Marc Ford and Johnny Colt from the Black Crowes.Jeff Cease was nowhere near the caliber of player TBC needed, Marc Ford is WAY overated (fans STILL moan about him, even though he faxed his latest resignation in 2 days before a tour), and Johnny was "cooler" than Sven but Sven's a better player. Viva Crowes though!
SteveB Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Hell, Alice in Chains sorta sucked without heroin.Kinda like Sober Aerosmith.
alantig Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 Al Cohol leaving Joe Walsh's band?Alan(only sorta kidding)

cmatthes Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 I know what the thread is about, but Foo Fighters got markedly better when Taylor Hawkins replaced the original drummer and Chris Shiflett replaced Pat Smear.
sonic1974 Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 since i'm listening to them right now:r.e.m. w/o bill berry.Ah man, you said it there. They've never been the same. I'm hoping the new album is good though, did you get it?
santellavision Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 Not exacty 'bit' players, but bands that were never the same...Peter Gabriel leaving Genesis.Steve Winwood leaving Traffic.Roger Hodgson leaving Supertramp.
jginsj Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 I'll probably raise flames for saying this, but...Yes without Trevor Rabin.Only liked them when Trevor was with them...but at least there are a lot of good movie soundtracks now!
elduave Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 Al Cohol leaving Joe Walsh's band?Alan(only sorta kidding)No shit. He's "Stepford Joe" now.
cmatthes Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 Wings - Jimmy McCullochI do like some of the "Back to the Egg" stuff though, and think L.J. is an amazing guitarist.
