DavidE Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Dear Penthouse, ooops, I mean... Dear HFC:I never thought this would happen to me. Ok, maybe I thought it was possible.Long story long, I went to a pulmonologist a week and a half ago to get more help with my asthma and she saw something on my x-ray that she didn't like. It wasn't on my last x-ray in January 2007. I had a CT scan the next day which showed a 1.5cm (remember your metric system? ) nodule in the lower lobe of my left lung and a nearby inflamed lymph node. Today I had a PET Scan to try and determine whether it is cancer or something else. Well, it lit up and she called it "borderline mild" positive results. For anyone in the know, the uptake was 4-5. But the lymph node had a 3.5 uptake. I still don't know what it is, but it's likely to be cancer. I am being scheduled for a CT guided needle biopsy to finally determine what it is since it could be inflammation, but I don't know how likely that is. I will turn 45 in September. I smoked lightly for maybe 2 years in college (1/2 pack/day?) As you might guess, I'm looking for all the help I can get so your prayers, thoughts, vibes, good wishes and even tree fiddy jokes would be appreciated. Advice from the cancer survivors would be helpful as well.Sorry I can't be at BCR's on Saturday!

BCR Greg Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Dave, call me when you can. I have a long history with my departed father's cancer, and may be able to help you deal with this.He was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Hodgekin's Lymphoma in 1980. He died of a heart attack in his sleep in 2000, after 12 remissions. Those 20 years were up and down, and I learned a lot about cancer, about healing and about faith.
Willie G. Moseley Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Prayer sent. I believe (and KNOW) that it works.

tomteriffic Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 All the best from down the road a piece, Counselor. I'm hoping it's either a false alarm or an early catch. Every day, look at a copy of the scan, or the appropriate spot on your middle, put on your best studious frown and say "Litigation?". That word scares me shitless. Maybe it'll work on the whatever-it-is. Hang in!
veatch Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 You and your family will be in our family's prayers.Keep on it, and kick its butt!
