thecajunboy Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Yeeeeeeeehaw!Sonofabitch I'm happy right now. The power's been out since 8:55 AM Monday morning. Lots of destruction all around. My home is good. No damage at all. Just a few broken limbs in the trees. I've got everything all cleaned up already. Not so lucky for other folks though. Some estimates put the return of power back as far as two to three weeks. I've been roughing it with ice chests, flashlights, and hurricane lamps. Not too bad. I've herad reports that out local EOC (Emergency Operations Center) clocked a high gust of 115 mph with steady average winds reaching 95 mph. I watched most of it from my front porch, which happened to be on the leeward side of the prevailing wind. I seriously didn't think the winds were that high. I've got some video to post later. Right now I'm too giddy to bother with it. I'm going celebrate a little. the Cajun BoyP.S. Jeffro and Foodermon are okay. Baton Rouge really got hammered. They're still without electricity AFAIK.

mc2 Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 A runaway barge is what blew out that levee wall in the Lower Ninth during Katrina. It nearly happened agan during Gustav. Another runaway barge hit and cracked the same Industrial Canal levee but they contained it. This time it was on the City side of the levee and would've taken out the French Quarter, etc. They pretty much kept this quiet.http://www.nola.com/hurricane/index.ssf/20...ire_follow.html
cmatthes Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 That wouldn't have anything to do with the election news coverage, would it Jon?
kizanski Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Every time I read this topic's title, I think it says "CB poops out the other side of Gustav."Not sure what that means, but it sounds like something he would do.

Riffer Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 You'll just have to pull out the acoustic and play the blues away.
JGale Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 I was going to suggest he change the wording, especially after goo-goo-googling "Gustav"
