Black and Blue.

Black on the left sports an ABM trem and hot rails pup thanks to BCR Greg.

Blue is all stock for now - except the trem arm.

I'll get some better pics done tomorrow AM. Until then...

Alright man up and send me the blue one. I have an empty Daytona case that needs filling!

I have a guitar that needs a case...hmmm.

Blue is a really pretty shade. When the light is right you can see the grain underneath. The Black is as black can be. I have a MannMade trem on sale here, I had purchased it for a project I was working on. That was on hold because of the opportunity to buy Blue. Now I'm tempted to swap the Wilky out for the MannMade. Thoughts?

My only complaint about the wilky is that mine gets buzzy, but then again I don't use the trem much. Alright I'll send you the case and you send me the guitar.... Wait that won't work..

Here is the great 1994 Daytona I bought from BCRGreg (picture also by Greg). It is much lighter than the 1997 Daytona I had before and what is really great is that the vibrato handle can be abused and the thing stays in tune. The pickups have been swapped now to a Kinman Woodstock Plus set with a K-9 switching system. That includes Knopfleresque sounds, Jimi-sounds , and P-90 sounds.

Edited to add: the other thing I like more about this Daytona than about the 1997 blonde one is the maple neck. It is like the maple neck on my 1994 T-51 and it feels much better/smoother than the rosewood on the other one.

I need a Wilky for my Greenie (or just the saddles). :P

Funny, I would have thought the rosewood fretboard Daytonas would be smoother sounding...

You are probably right about the sound, but I was writing 'bout the feel of the neck.

Did they sand the finish on the maple necks at the factory? Blue's neck is defintely smoother than the neck of The Black.

The maple neck and fretboard of my Blackie Daytona USA seems finished and sanded, basically like a sanded satin finish. As mine is old however, certain places have worn off, and looks black. But hey, people pay good money for that...

As for the fretboard being smoother, I thought it was about tone, not feel. Lol. My bad...

Be looking for an Adler/Rosewood real soon. Been klicking myself in the ASS since I missed that Blonde/Rosewood that jetattblue had for sale a bit back.

But ya on Strats I prefer the Rosewood and a lighter weight 7-8lbs at most. Not a thing wrong with Maple boards or Ash bodies though. Just a personal thing with the Tone being warmer for me.
