Talladega Pro with 2 cream P90's, ebony fretboard and no fretboard markers.

-Austin

After looking back on this thread this was a really cool suggestion. But I might need at least a 12th fret marker. I suck..

OK, the Phantom GT thread has me wondering how many HFCers would order one. I had wanted to order a run and sell all of them off but a couple; who would be in for a group buy? (I realize this is fantasy at this point, but it's fun to dream)

Definitely fantasy, but I don't think that we'd be able to scrape up 10 HFC'ers willing to drop well in excess of $5k each (street price) for those. If they would consider doing those, it would definitely not be cheap! The $350 rule would not apply here. B)

After reading the other 'Custom Order' thread, I'm not convinced that Hamer would do anything worthwhile for $5K each for a run of 10 or 12 or whatever. I'm not looking to spend that much green for a simple tweak or two here and there on a pre-existing model guitar. Of course, if they do a T-Bolt, I might be interested. B)

Rick has two-the original Hamer (a 95) and a Japanese-made one (Fernandes IIRC) in korina.

This guitar is actually one where Gibson copied Hamer. Gibson did two in 99 for NAMM, a cherry and a korina.

The "original" that Rick's is patterened after was a homebuilt and featured in a UK guitar mag as a sham "missing link" Gibson. IIRC it had original Gibson parts from the 50s but that was about it.

Rick borrowed it and Hamer made one for Rick from that as I understand.

I'd be inclined to go with the 6-in-line Talladega myself. Double Ds and a Sustainblock. Maybe solid colors or something, you know, "Recession Friendly". Bound board w/dots, and I'd be happy!

The Thunderbolt would be great, but that would also never happen (I'm pretty certain about that!).

The "original" was built by Chris Lukasic in the early '90s, along with a midwest Guitar dealer, Dave Kenney (I custom-ordered my '91 Standard that Bubs42 now owns from Dave). It was made from old Korina wood and original '50s Gibson parts, and was an April Fool's Day prank in a UK Guitar Magazine. Rick borrowed it and had it out on tour, and supposedly broke the headstock and sent it to Hamer for a repair. Hamer made their own accurate version of that one in 1995. Rick ended up recording and touring with the Hamer, and it was in regular rotation for quite some time, and still shows up on the road.

An HFC'er owns the original Lukasic Tbolt, and there may even be a few others floating around. The Gibson copies don't quite get the shape right and were priced out of the stratosphere, but there are at least two of them, as Serial mentioned. Hiroshi Kid made a small run of Korina Tbolts in '96, but I haven't seen any of those for sale outside of the Jpns market. Fernandes made Rick's other Korina one, but that is not a faithful copy of the original mythical guitar apart from the body shape.

Despite the fact that they look unweildy, they are incredibly comfortable to play and hang perfectly from a strap. Sitting down...not so much!

That's IT! THAT'S THE ONE! B) I think it'd look good with a reverse Explorer/Standard headstock as well, maybe give it a Standard Custom treatment (Cherry Sunburst flame maple top, binding, fancy inlays) also. Hell, do both a plain Mahogany and a Custom treatment one!

Whomever can find the Smilie where he is beating his head against the wall, if they will kindly place that on this post and just mention the word "Thunderbolt", and do so about a dozen times, it will appropriately represent the number of times I have asked Hamer to build this guitar for me. There have been other HFC'rs request the same and the end results have been the same.

One or two HFC'rs have had thunderbolts custom made but I don't recall who did them and maybe they will be kind enough to PM you with he information.

I was having a really good year up until I read this post. I am sure that more than one dealer has asked Hamer to do a run of ten and it has been declined.

Crunchee, good luck on your quest.

As far as an HFC or any other limited run, I really liked the Zandards.

A match set would be nice. Oh I don't know say something like Vee and a Standard in Dark burst with an L5 fingerboard and boomers? Triple Pickups might be nice. Five or seven ply binding.

As long as were dreaming, I would like for it to be something that speaks to Hamers Heritage. I thought it was a real shame that Judas Priest had a set from Gibson and not Hamer.

There are some great examples of things that were cool but done just once. In some cases, I think that should be that way.

Its always nice too dream and sometimes its great that dreams come true.

Hamerica,

I got your PM. Thanks. Everytime I tried to reply I got a syntax error. Didn't want you to think I was ignoring you.

Hum, that's the problem with a Phantom, there are enough out there for dirt cheap (Below 1k) . I started the thread just as an idea that we could get a unique hamer built for US. Something that would not be out of reach for most of the members. A traditional model, with some tweaks, solid colors would be good. the best suggestion we've had has been for a "Resession Friendly" axe. Those Korina Artist witht he Pickup variation were cool.

Like a Tally or Studio or Hell a Standard, Transparent or solid color maybe a limited color something different that they don't offer and a HFC Limited on it somewhere. I like the idea. I don't think if would be a 5k guitar. But if 10 or so are not interest then so be it. We can move on. The fact that this thread is still coming up. I would say if we got model specific and moved forword Maybe somthing would come out of it. Mybe one of our dealers would like to take the torch. I have plently of things coming up for sale and will be looking to possible do a C/O this year. I would be willing to put my money were my mouth is.

One of the issues around any Hamer guitar is that there prices have increased significantly. Right now the lowest list is $3,600 for an off the shelf model Studio. I wonder what they would list a mahogany special at since the Korina Jr is $3,800? Another issue is not only trying to find 5 - 10 folks who want a limited guitar, but how do you decide on features? A reissue of some sort would make the most sense, but price point would seem to be out of reach for most. In the past there were several attempts at different guitars and they mostly have not panned out.

It's been mentioned about a offshore speced out Hamer, but I don't think that would happen. Many folks here are simply not going to spring for a Hamer import. Too many what ifs.

Thanks, Hamerica! It's on my wish list, but it's not a quest--yet. I'd be open to a HFC Zandard, too. But from what was already discussed on the 'Custom Order' thread, it seems to be all up to Hamer. I hope they reconsider their policies.

I think they should do a 1978 B&C Sunburst reissue. I'd buy one.

They already did-with old stock Dimarzios too.

Oh, OK then, but..... I thought of it first.

I for sure didn't need to see that !

I've been here awhile, and I don't remember ever seeing that. WOW!!

They were offered at the second HFC Day at the factory in '99. Very small run, dictated by the very small supply of usable Sustainblocks they had at the time (Sustainblocks hadn't been used on a production guitar then for just under 10 years, and they were left over from Arlington Hts.).

How many were made? That's *VERY* close to a future custom order i had in mind...

Wow!

I've been around here for awhile and I have never heard or seen these. That's an awesome instrument and should be part of the stock Hamer offering IMHO.

I'd buy one, and it would seem like it should be a less expensive model for the factory to build then a Studio or Artist since they don't have to carve the arched top. But I just remembered they aren't doing crowns so nevermind. I'll keep saving for my Watson.

I would have to go with an green envyburst standard with white emgs, floyd rose, and all gold hardware.

Neck, body, and headstock bound too. Also crowned of course. :(:D:D

That one in particular is one of the finest guitars I've fondled.

How about something *really* different, that isn't being made by another manufacturer?

I'm sure the gen-II Cruisebass necks would work just fine, use either Phatcats or

even better....these! http://www.rsguitarworks.net/rsstore/produ...products_id=428

chrome hardware including p/u rings; maple neck, mmmm...good!
