sonic1974 Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 I think the amps look cooler than a lot of guitars I see for some reason. They look pretty natural. I don't really have strong feelings either way on reliced guitars, but I've seen some that are a little too over the top. I've also seen some I like a lot. There, is that wishy-washy Canadian enough for you?!The topic brings up some pretty strong opinions that's for sure! I'm not sure exactly why it touches such a nerve. We guitarists are too sensitive! ha ha.
hamertek98 Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Who gives a shit. If someone likes a guitar... buy it. If someone doesn't like it... so what. I've never bought anything because someone else did or did not like it. If we all went through life caring about what everyone thought about our purchases...That goes to what's on stage, too. If someone bitches about what someone is playing on stage.. Gimme a break. That bitch should figure out why he (or she) is watching the show instead of playing their own.Kinda like a significant other. Some are worn out right off the bat. Some you gotta break in and get to know. Some get traded off the same night you meet. Every once in awhile you want the worn out one because they feel good. Other times you might like the one you gotta break in, and get to know, 'cause it makes you look good.I miss a couple worn out ones. Even if I didn't wear 'em out. Oops, back to the relics...
sirDaniel Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 I never drank the koolaid.Okay, you've OBSESSED over gorgeous guitars your whole playing life. Now, you've bought/are considering buying a RELIC. How do you even start to explain that to anyone outside the guitar world (dupes like us), why you'de spend big money for a trashed looking product? I'm talking spouse and kids for starts. Honestly, I can't even come up with any answer that would even start to sound anything less then stoopid.
DaveL Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 why would anybody pay extra for a guitar with fancy inlays on the fretboard (like dragons or wizards or dare I say it BOOMERANGS), bound headstock withyour name under the logo, or maybe a top cut from a stump in the swamp with streaking due to a high mineral content? It wouldn't be THE LOOKS would it? It's all vanity in it's own little way. some people are just afraid to admit it...
edgar_allan_poe Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 I seriously don't know why this is even an issue. The clothing and furniture manufacturers have been doing this for decades. Hell...the only pair of *non* reliced jeans I own were given to me as a gift. LOL!!! You guys who are bitching better not own a pair of stonewashed or faded jeans...it would be a bit hypocritical...don't you think? ROTFLMAO!

I look at guitars like fine art (although play the shit out of most of them) I do have some that I really can't even play for fear of marking them. I also miss the shit out of my orginal '63 Strat that I had to down years ago. This is probably the closest I'll ever get to re-capturing that guitar. Many reasone for everything. Don't like it. don't buy it!

ROTFLMAO!I have prewashed as those are the only ones I could find. The only thing that bothers me is the price of that Mexican made guitar. A MIM standard strat is $400 - $450, but the MIM RW is $950 with a gig bag. True it has some upgrades over a STD MIM, but ?
