sirDaniel Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 2009 is upon us. This is the 10 year anniversary of the guitar that started it all for me (Hamer style). The 25th anniversary guitar was one hell of a cool guitar. I believe it transitioned HamerUSA into their next great era. The 25th gave way to the 25th LIMITED and then 5 years later.. 30th Anniversary. Hmmmmm, we should be contemplating the next entry into the series right about now. So lets hear it for one of Hamer's finest! Role Call: 25thLTD #10/25

Brooks Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 sweet. i had the non blingy regular run, nice guitar. surprisingly bright for an all mahogany semi hollow. ps- i miss my kitty.
Disturber Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 25thLTD #10/25 I'd trade a '79 Custom Sunburst for one of those, they are kewl.
jwhitcomb3 Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Considering the economy, I wouldn't be surprised if Hamer opts just to wait until 40.-Jonathan
burningyen Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Love my plain Jane mahogany 25th (formerly BruceM's).
JGale Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Wish I hadn't sold it. Plekked with Fralin Unbuckers
Thundernotes Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 I had a set of Fralin humbuckers that I got from Stike a couple years ago and never used, so I popped them in here. Sounds awesome. I also changed out the tuner buttons for the pearloid Schaller style you can get from StewMac (yes, they fit on Grover tuners too) and it balances very nicely.
sirDaniel Posted February 10, 2009 Author Posted February 10, 2009 looks "right"on you Lou nickname: Silver Fox
atquinn Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Those are the classiest guitars Hamer's ever made IMO. Love the silver purfling!-Austin
veatch Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Any pics of the 30th Anniversary out there? How many 25th and 30th made, BTW?
DavidE Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 I have the plain jane 25th. Mine has Harmonic Design Z90's. I haven't played it in a long time and I really should....
ET_KenW Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 I love my plain jane 25th. It's still stock except for replacing the tuner buttons. It's perfect for my playing ability. I do need to break it out of the case and spend some quality time.
ceeb Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 This are outstanding guitars!! They have a unique sound, and play like "I can't beleive it's not butter" or maybe Parkay. I let Sir Dan have the rights to this pic, that is my # 11 That pic was taken by the dealer, I forget who, I think he's in VA. That is Lou with the same guit at the last CT summer Jam (not really last, just the most recent) And here it is after the studio was remodeled (sometimes a small flood can be a good thing, not that I'd welcome another.) Here is my plain'o 25th anni also with Z90s. It rips. (I felt it would not be proper form, not to comment parentheticlly here, so- This picture was taken for scale, just so you could really appreciate the ungodly size of my organ)
ceeb Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 DIE! DIE! DIE!<jumping up and down on this thread>
carfish7 Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Ooh! and a silver case with a nifty metal badge to boot. The engraving work is very cool. Anyone got a close-up of the silver purfling? I was shocked and amazed (and ultimately, annoyed) at how bright my "regular" 25th was and moved it further down the HFC stream. A tad neck-heavy as well, so the pearly plastic buttons are probably a functional modification as well and a blingification. Nice guitars.CJ
sirDaniel Posted February 11, 2009 Author Posted February 11, 2009 that is not just a "metal" plate. It's a solid sterling silver backplate AND truss cover. And, YES, it tarnishes so you need to polish it just like the candlestick holders.
bubs_42 Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Let me frigging guess. Ebony Board ! Damit.. My must have list is getting bigger buy the minute.
veatch Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Let me frigging guess. Ebony Board ! Damit.. My must have list is getting bigger buy the minute. I have been long watching for a 25th or a 30th ann. I think i've seen one 30th anniversary for sale, and like an idiot, i didn't jump on it. Odds are very high, though, that if/when one pops up, i won't have the funds for it... ...It's good to want things.
BruceM Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Here's 06 of 25. I had to have it after SirDan graciously allowed me to play his when we performed with CheapChick Pam at the Hamer Open House in, what, 2002? I purchased this a few years later, and it's safely tucked away upstairs. I've found this one to be the most difficult of my guitars to photograph. I can't quite get the exact tone of the red. It's so deep and, well, regal. And I do miss the 25th I sold to you Ben, even though the Newport you traded me suits me better, and actually gets played a lot more than the 25th. That's a stellar guitar, purchased from BCR Greg at the same time that I purchased Black Bart. And here's a pic of my good buddy Eric Weston playing this guitar in July 2005, soon after I purchased it:
Guest pirateflynn Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 I've found this one to be the most difficult of my guitars to photograph. I can't quite get the exact tone of the red. It's so deep and, well, regal. Red is the most difficult color to photograph accurately. Try underexposing it a little. Find a brighter part in the frame, lock on it with the button depressed halfway, reframe and shoot. Just stellar guitars!
