Feynman Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 I don't think you should be allowed to post again until your entry is laden with pics of this thing.

Sentinel Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Aztec Gold, love it. Ok, more of the same - my first guitar, a MonEl Aztec!
bubs_42 Posted April 6, 2009 Author Posted April 6, 2009 I don't know why but I consider Aztec Gold to be a "Hamer" color. Just a great color. Thanks for sharing. 2 days to go.

Guest pirateflynn Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 So many sweet ones. I think I'd either go with the Aztec Gold/ebony board or the Tobacco w/double cremes. Tough choice!

Tough choice!Throw the Ebony Board on the TobaccoBurst, and swap out the bridge for the Sustainblock! That would be awsome! That BCR Burst looks fantastic in that pick though...

Tough choice! What are the kinds with the F-holes? Are they similar to a Newport, just single cut as opposed to double-cut?Pirateflynn, what is the name of your type of Newport? I know you had some custom stuff, but what would be the closest commercially available Hamer to yours? Not that I'm copying you. ha ha. Trying to snag down a '79 Sunburst right now. GAS is crazy. I am crazy, but it's fun, i got the cash, I'm not hurtin' anyone, no kids............no problems! haha.

The Monaco's probably have a less hollow design as well. The closest production Newport to mine would be a Newport Pro w/ a maple top. The production version is a great guitar.
Feynman Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 One for Monday...Wow, great Tonality Patterns on that one.

Do you use overdrive/distortion straight from the amp, or in conjunction with a overdrive pedal? What's the clean headroom on an amp like that? I believe it' s 18 Watts, am I correct? Thanks for the info!rob b.

Thanks for the info!rob b.The sides and back are mahogany. Yes, the First Born is an 18 watter which means there's not too much headroom. I like my crunchy tone right on the end of breakup so I don't use an overdrive. I imagine an overdrive would sound very good but the amp has two channels so you could set one 'kind of clean' and the other 'mostly cranked' with the use of a channel switcher. GREAT amp.

I didn't realize it had two channels. I thought the 18 watters were one channel amps. Sounds like an "update". Wow...........the GAS continues.I don't believe I've seen them in Canada. Would it be similar to a DR. Z 18 watt? I believe it's called 18 Junior or something.
Sam Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Found this Mon on Tom Dumont's guitar blog. Pretty cool. http://dumontguitars.blogspot.com/
