BubbaVO Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Seems like there's lots of options if you want to build a clone of the 18 watt M******l. What's the one kit that produces great tones, has easy to follow instructions, has all the parts included (no delays due to needing parts), quality components for a decent price?

He posts on plexipalace at times as well. I've heard good about his kits, and he's quick to reply if you have questions.
veatch Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Try 18watt.com for some more idears. I haven't spent much time up there, but they seem to have a good set of knowledge. The sources that i'm aware of (but can not rank...) are: MetroAmps (no 18 watters, though...) Mojo CeriaTone Ted Weber Of the above, i've only dealt with Mojo for a kit. They are expensive, but you seem to get good quality shtuff. No instructions, though, if that's what yer looking for. Just a schematic and a board layout, which is all you really need if you've built an amp or three before. If you're looking for a tutorial, the MetroAmp kits come with instructions, but i've never built one of their kits, so i can't comment on how good they are. They also only do big glass, so no 18 watters... The Ted Weber kits are more affordable, but i can't speak to their quality. I love his MASS units, and his speakers and xformers seem to have a good reputation. Hope that helps.
edgar_allan_poe Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Not sure Brewie does kits but if he does, I would certainly give him first crack.I have heard great things about the Ceriatone amps. The Trainwreck clone I heard was simply stunning.
