bubs_42 Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Seriously I'm sick, I've already started thinking about the next one. This weekend was awsome and now it comes down to what next. What guitar I mean. I purchased my Monaco and i'm sold on the quality of "Newer" Hamer guitars. Everyone was kind enough to let me play and checkout all the cool axes this weekend. The Tally's that were around were great. Sustainblocks and the longer scale length make for a great guitar. They just ring forever! I also liked the Newport that I played. Both exellent guitars. Actually, i'm leaning with the Tally. Why?, because it totally different from what I have in my Stable. Longer Scale, different neck, different vibe all together. Although this year is pretty booked up for purchases, mybe I'll have to have another clearance sale.. So... Post some pics and lets see some.
BubbaVO Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 A Tally is a great guitar. My second favorite use of the term "Double D" comes from that guitar. Can't go wrong with that choice. And I would guess that the Pro would go to "11". On the other hand, those Newports are pretty cool.
sw686blue Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 I'm up to (gulp) 10 and I still want a Tally Pro.
Guest pirateflynn Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Boy, if the Tally Pro came in short scale I'd have to update my poll. That would be a crazy cool guitar!

atquinn Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Which Tally vs. which Newport? Anyway, if you can live with the neck, I'd give the edge to the Tally.-Austin
Sam Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 I've got my Newport needs sorted, so I was hoping there would be a few more Tally-Gas inducing posts around the place! Make it a Tally Pro and be the first to educate us on it... I wonder if this one sold for best offer outside of the 'bay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Hamer-Talladega-Pro-El...A1%7C240%3A1318 BTW, where's that promised Monaco tone report, eh?

That Monaco Tone report will be done today when I get back. I have it drafted up I just need pics. I like all the extra features on the Pro like the neck joint and the switch location. I'd rather have just 3 inline knobs and it's got to have a Sustainblock..It's a Hamer Thing.

Also, while I dig the appearance of the upper bout toggle switch, I prefer to have a blade switch right by my picking hand. Looking forward to the Elite report.
Travis Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Still the finest guitar I've ever had my hands on. And this is the wallpaper on my desktop. I'm proud to say that those two guitars are one and the same.
atquinn Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 I thought you threw a Brobucker in the bridge of you Tally?-Austin
BubbaVO Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Still the finest guitar I've ever had my hands on. I'm proud to say that those two guitars are one and the same. The top is gorgeous. What kind of a pattern is that called? It doesn't have the tight stripes like others.
Sam Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Still the finest guitar I've ever had my hands on. I never tire of looking over Miss Feb & Jan. But you know that, right? Gotta get a proper scan of the Jan pic some time. I picked one up earlier in the year (new) , though returned it due to an undisclosed blem/ding. I've been keeping an eye out for the perfect specimen since then. --
Feynman Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 I think the regular Talladega (Talladega Amateur) is quite fascinating. I love the idea of a lightweight Fender scale sustain block with "big" single coils. I want one.I should stop reading this thread before I get stupid, though. What are the 4 positions on the switch - bridge, series, parallel, neck?
BubbaVO Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 What are the 4 positions on the switch ? They are from neck to bridge: "sweet", "kinky", "nasty" and "you filthy whore say my name".
sonic1974 Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 What are the 4 positions on the switch ? They are from neck to bridge: "sweet", "kinky", "nasty" and "you filthy whore say my name". Sounds like a fun guitar!
Feynman Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Man, now I really want one!Even as a guitar, though, it would probably say someone else's name.
belgian Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 What are the 4 positions on the switch ? They are from neck to bridge: "sweet", "kinky", "nasty" and "you filthy whore say my name". Best description ever
jwhitcomb3 Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 What are the 4 positions on the switch ? They are from neck to bridge: "sweet", "kinky", "nasty" and "you filthy whore say my name". This belongs in the manual! Can I get a Tally with this engraved on the top? -Jonathan
Guest pirateflynn Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Can I get a Tally with this engraved on the top? -Jonathan My rate is very reasonable.
bubs_42 Posted April 20, 2009 Author Posted April 20, 2009 I love these threads.. You never know where they are going to end up. I have a great Idea for a Tally, but i'm down to just my keepers at the moment. I would have to see if I could get in my range without gettin my nuts cut off..
Travis Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 I thought you threw a Brobucker in the bridge of you Tally?-AustinI did. I just haven't taken any new, high quality pics since the swap. I should get on that...
