HamerArtist Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 It looks like they are taking offers on Eric's Goldtop. I think I may have to keep saving for awhile to do the BIN.http://cgi.ebay.com/ERIC-JOHNSONS-1958-GIB...parms=72%3A1205not affiliated with seller
cmatthes Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Really nice guitar. A bit out of my price range for a non-original case though!
specialk Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I was hoping he had two of them for sale, Maybe qualify for the bulk discount.....
unfun75 Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I think it's cool that you can actually meet Eric if you win and go with the pick-up at store option. If you can afford that guitar you could surely afford to fly to the store. If Mike McCready was selling one of his vintage LP's and was willing to meet the buyer, I'd consider taking out a loan.
Aceldama Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I got a chance to meet Eric Johnson after a concert in SF. If there is a more humble, un-assuming guitar God, I have not met him. I mean, look at the gooby smile: Satch? Kinda a dick.
edgar_allan_poe Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I bet he is selling it because he found out it was fluted.
sw686blue Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 All jokes aside, that looks like a killer guitar and the price doesn't seem that out of line.
Hamer of the gods Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 I bet he is selling it because he found out it was fluted. Will the seller provide X-Rays to determine if it's fluted?
santellavision Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 It could also be an RS Guitarworks relic'd reissue. (Those guys are that good) I got out of collecting vintage pieces as soon as I saw the first Cunetto Fender Relics. It scared me about collecting.
Kurt L Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 While I certainly wouldn't claim I "know" him, I've met Eric Johnson a few times and he seems really nice. As does that goldtop.Alas, it's beyond the grasp of a mere mortal like myself... good thing I have my Hamers! :-)
Hamerica Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 I got a chance to meet Eric Johnson after a concert in SF. If there is a more humble, un-assuming guitar God, I have not met him. I mean, look at the gooby smile: Satch? Kinda a dick. I have seen Eric a couple of times and yes he is all of that and a bag of chips. There are only two others I would put in his class: one other unassuming guitar god - Andy Timmons and the anti- guitar god - Rick Nielsen. Nice guitar. Hangman, forget retirement, buy this and let me play it! Hamerica
BrianM Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Your wish is NOT my command, in this case (lack of funds mainly)! Cool guitar though.
Steve Haynie Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 The description says "near mint" which it is definitely NOT. It is extremely nice, perhaps the best example out there, but it is not "near mint."
