Hamer Thunderbolt

"IF" Hamer were to say yes they will build the Thunderbolt guitar but we need a min. of XX orders to do it. Who here would really lay down the cash to do it?

Make mine with an F hole. :D

now do you mean a standard scroll f-hole or something secret you can "access" from the back of the guitar while performing?

Why? It's already been done:

i had a friend who playe done of these almost exclusively during the 90's. he didn't use the synth part, just the hb guitar output. he always raved about it.

No offense intended, Matt.

IMO, you're going to have a hard time finding people willing to lay out $2,000 - $4,000 for a guitar as radical as the T-bolt. To me, it doesn't look at all ergonomic, particularly with that upper horn strap button flying out above the middle of the fretboard.

Just my opinion.

I said yes but mine would have to be a 4 string bass.

OOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH! I'd like to see that.

Had I the means (yeah right) I'd be in for one in a heartbeat.

The darn things look like the guns from Starship Troopers.

that just might be the ugliest guitar I've ever seen

Aww, come on. If that silver one had some tasteful boobie or unicorn engravings, you know we'd be all over it.

Hamer USA knows my position on this one. I'll take two - one in Cherry Mahogany and the other in Korina. Please.

What I would like to see them make is a copy of the 1958 Modern. Then I would have the complete trio from '58.

I'm with ya there Shanky, but that Moderne REALLY needs a banana headstock, not the "Gumby".

Thanks once again for your support.

You're upset because the vast majority said no?

Be careful what you ask - you might get an answer! :D

I would be just Happy if they would make somthing NEW that was along the lines of the Vector or Standard.

Bottom line is I want one but I guess my final answer would depend on the price.

From a manufacturing standpoint, that should be an inexpensive guitar to produce. If you run the grain parallel to the sides of the body (as they do with the Korina V) you shouldn't even have to glue two pieces of wood together. Sounds like a good way to take some of those narrow korina boards off their hands. That guitar MUST be made of korina. It would weight about 6-7 pounds.

If they wanted to make the "tailpiece" out of brass as they did on the original cherry version - I offer to waterjet enough tailpieces for the run at no charge (all they have to pay for is the material).

I even have most of the design drawn in in CAD right now. I found a CAD model of a Flying V on the net & did some work to it.

I have sent off a quote to Hill guitars to see what they want to built one.

I also modified the original CAD drawing of the Vector. Mine was a bit different from the cherry one pictured above because I did not extend the point on the bass side of the body. It was essentially a V with one horn flipped 180 degrees. IMO it should be built to the shape of the cherry one.

The neck and the hardware are identical to a V (minus the tailpiece that I can easily make). The only other thing that is needed is a case.
