Woltz is listening... Is this the mod where you add an expression pedal? There's a youtube vid somewhere of Paul Gilbert using one and getting all kinds of glorious, fucked-up sounds.

Actually, this A/DA is a newer reissue, manufactured just up the road in Lafayette, CA. I've not compared it to a vintage A/DA flanger, but it sounds pretty darn good to my ears.

I recently picked up a Red Witch Moon Phaser in the close-out bin @GC for $130(!) 3 phase modes, 2 Trem-phase modes and Tremelo mode. Great, great pedal. It does pay, sometimes, to be like Sammy Davis, Jr. and "keep an eye out..."

Rob and Jay all happy and smug with their vintage A/DA flangers. Colour me jealous boys...

Yep. Happily, there is a constant smug alert in my neck of the woods. The Ibanez Airplane flanger is basically a copy of the A/DA circuit with the added, goofy feature of the "Take Off" button. They are MUCH cheaper than the A/DAs and sound great.

For the first time in my life, I'm using a pedalboard. I'm running a tuner, wah, compressor, distortion/boost, and delay (in that order) and when I figure out how to make it tidy I will add my H&K Rotosphere.

Problem is, it creates a major level suck. Any ideas on how to restore the gain?

Get a buffered pedal in there or buy a Visual Sound Buffer. I have a Visual Sound Buffer under my board and when I pull my board completely and plugging straight in, I actually miss it. I think i've had that under my board for over a year.

Actually, one mine, I converted the manual foot control input jack to speed control. I can go from zero flange to rotary tones and all in between. Coolest mod. my post is around here somewhere in regards of...

I have a big Pedaltrain Pro board loaded with about 14 pedals, which is kind of too big to lug around, so I got a PT Mini and populated it with stuff from the big board and it is what I almost always use. The only pedal I really can't get on the small board is the Tube Rotosphere - which is a shame because it's a great effect. So I guess I could see still lugging the big board around for some uses. Here are my two boards:

Called in favors, traded, sold, begged, borrowed and somehow funded this build from PTD (Paul Trombetta Design). Got to admit that I've known Paul since high school, but it doesn't jade my feelings toward his builds. I've had a chance to play a lot of his stuff as they are being developed, side by side with some of the premier boxes in the world, and his line is special.

Starting at the right, the Mini-Bone Fuzz – both an overdrive and a fuzz.. horn sounds, low octaves, chime and spank through filthy grit that cleans up with your volume knob.. stole a few lines from the website, but it's not easy to explain.

Then, the Kush, a low, med Overdrive.. V, T, G – the switch belongs to the Mini.

And third, the BettaBoost, a clean boost, light OD with V, T, G and 3 EQ settings – very transparent and amp friendly.

All are stellar as stand alone pedals, all pair up nicely, and all three work in concert.

Asolutely, without a doubt, the highest quality, best tonal improvement to my rig in years.

I'll post a vid sometime in the not to distant future.

Ghetto? My board laughs at your refined, well-fashioned board! Feast your eyes on what happens when you have no board but get tired of setting up and tearing down pedals every gig/practice, find a can of high heat WalMart spray paint, an old bicycle chain and a piece of scrap 5/8 plywood under the house (JEM-inspired monkey grip):

The backline is just a bit more upscale: an old Kenneth Cole briefcase from my days as a banker, more plywood and bicycle chain:

The coiled tubing houses two 20' George-L's cables for the loop, another cable for the amp-to-frontline link and the cable for the amp's footswitch.

I have about $2 (wood screws) in the whole rig. At the time this was put together I needed to throw something together quickly, but this has worked just fine so I haven't bothered it. I'll get around to that some day, but in the mean time it's super ghetto!

I appreciate this approach. I have a piece of scrap wood with some utility room carpet nailed to it so I can use velcro to stick my pedals. Never could see the reason to spend a lot of money on a pedal board, though I have to admit, this thread is really making me reconsider.

Yes, Hamer used to sell a T-shirt with that logo. Have one but can't find a pic of it now.

Someone also did cavity covers etched with that logo. Pic below is one on a Korina Standard I got from Jisham (and then traded for Two Rock Custom prototype #3).

for some of the little joints I use a OD & echo( & batteries) on top of an amp , and clip on tuner . a pedalboard on the floor would reduce the area to stand in by 1/2 .

What's this 'effects loop' of which you speak?

Nah-I plug in between guitar and amp and just step on what I need. That's what I like about the Morley wah-instant on and off!

Using the effects loop (for me at least) depends on the amp / setup. When I posted the two mini-board ghetto rig back in '09 I was playing a Fender Supersonic that had a cascading gain preamp and benefited greatly (okay, it benefited somewhat, greatly would be a stretch) from having delay and chorus after the preamp.

I have different amps now, and none that develop great amounts of overdrive in the preamp. I run it all into the instrument input and it seems to sound fine.

As evidenced by that old board (and specifically, the bike chain links), I have an aversion to sticking Velcro on my pedals. I'm trying to get over it as the new TC pedals and some others I've recently acquired can't be attached with the links. If I finally succumb to Velcro, I suppose I'll go with one of those Pedal Train units. They look pretty cool.

I just have a small bag in where there are five pedals, all connected to a VoodooLab power source. Will picture them next Wednesday at the rehearsal, but this is the content of my bag:

Morley George Lynch Dragon 2 wah --> Korg Black Pitch tuner --> BSP custom treble booster --> Digitech Bad Monkey Overdrive --> Tech21 Liverpool

I'm no longer using a noise gate, as I'm at most mid-gain in my current gig, so I don't need that little tone sucker anymore.

I might also get rid of the treble booster in my current rig, as my GL wah has a fixed position switch that does marvels with the overdrive, but I'm still not very sure about it --need to get used to it first; I've been relying on my treble booster for too long already.
