I ordered one from these folks, but it is back ordered. The customer service guy was hard to pin down...put me on hold a couple times and hung up on me. Finally he offered me a refund. The folks who listed the ebay auction above are also back ordered (Perfect Pitch Music: http://myworld.ebay.com/pitch_perfect_music/ )

Through the heroic efforts of our German HFC bro gorch, one of these ultra cool bridges landed on my doorstep this week. Thanks Dirk!

It turns out these bridges are not suitable for replacing the wraptail bridge on an Eclipse (the posts for the Eclipse bridge are set much too far apart). I will be seeking a suitable tuneomatic equipped guitar for my evil plans.

Doh! Sucks that they won't replace wraptail bridges. I had a Flaxwood for about 2 seconds and really liked the LP trem on it, so I'll definitely be picking up one some day to try on one of my Hamers.

Gosh, it gets worse.

Tried to put this on an Artist, and the bridge wouldn't go low enough. When I tried to adjust the springs underneath, one of the screws snapped off in the hole. I now have a very pretty drawer ornament.

Cool idea, but it sure didn't work for me.

I feel terrible that it turn out that bad for all those efforts.

I've seen a few of the Floyd Rose Les Paul style trems on eBay, but never in real life. I've heard the problem was Gibson's neck angle was irregular and sometimes a neck reset was necessary, as well as the new Floyd nut needed some work and that upset people thinking the guitar could be returned to stock.

Has anyone tried one?

Aw, man...

Let me be absolutely clear. Dirk went to heroic efforts to get this to me, and was as kind and courteous as could be. I hope to be able to return his kindness in some way.

My problems were purely due to my lack of properly reading the materials that were readily available to me, and for attempting a modification that was clearly beyond my technical abilities.

I will repair the bridge and find a new home for it.

Supposedly it's being paired with a floating locking nut like this one:

That locking device still leaves the nut in the equation though and given how big of a source of pitch and returning-to-tune issues the nut can be, I don't know how effective that would be.

It looks like it holds itself fixed by holding the strings fixed.

Right, but the strings as a unit are still being pull throught the nut and will be moving when you're using the trem. So they'll still be able to bind at the nut. In fact, having them all linked together like that might even make it worse?

If you'd move the unit as close to the nut as possible the string movement would be minimized. I think the tool would be a little more supportive than string-individual locking tuners just because the open string length behind the nut would be shorter with the tool.
