humfree Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 How about Hamers you now regret letting go.. this from around '92 or '93..
MCChris Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Simply put, I was not man enough for this guitar. I wish I still had it, simply to look at it:
Victor (Fret Friend) Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 oh dear... i'd have kept that...
cmatthes Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Simply put, I was not man enough for this guitar. I wish I still had it, simply to look at it: I just saw that one for sale this week. It was him - or his twin...
sonic1974 Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Simply put, I was not man enough for this guitar. I wish I still had it, simply to look at it: What do you mean, the sound was good, but it didn't feel right in your hands?
MCChris Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 What do you mean, the sound was good, but it didn't feel right in your hands? It was the LOUDEST guitar I've ever owned, plugged, unplugged or otherwise. Even after a pickup swap I could not tame it thru my main rig.Yeah, I know. When have I been opposed to LOUD? This guitar was just too much.

Mindseyes Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 No bling and not flashy but what it lacked in looks it made up in TONE, god that guitar had stupid good tone!!!
BubbaVO Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 This ... A whollottahrawkn'roll and its now out of my hands. Dangit!
Siaip Ciuvas Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I totally agree! BTW - now it sports Joe Bonamassa signature on the side and WB Custom ordered hot PAF's. No bling and not flashy but what it lacked in looks it made up in TONE, god that guitar had stupid good tone!!!
Thundernotes Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 2Tek Cruise 5 They have asymmetrical necks that are very comfortable to play. Tone is out of this world, even though it was quite heavy. I was having some neck and shoulder problems at the time, so it had to go.
Sam Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I just saw that one for sale this week. It was him - or his twin... It's the twin - came stock with adjustable TonePros bridge : Wonder how many 2PU models are out there. Here's another :
BCR Greg Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I don't EVEN want to start posting in this thread.......(hides head in hands and sobs.....)
Willie G. Moseley Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 About a decade ago, I scored a pawn shop deal on a black U.S. Hamer bass that had a P/J configuration, dot markers, and three chrome Tele-type knobs. Nothing fancy at all, and I got it for a song on accounta the magnet on one side of the P-type pickup was broken and wouldn't put out. Replaced with a Fender pickup. For whatever reasons, it felt balanced and just about perfect, ergonomically (for me, at least). This would have made a great utility bass had I retained it. However, with only dot markers and no neck binding, I couldn't see where I was too well, and that was the reason/excuse for parting with it...but I could just have easily stuck white adhesive dot markers on the bass side of the fretboard and/or larger ones on the side of the neck.Over the decades, I passed up many others in pawn shops before I garnered an appreciation for the brand's quality, including ones with wild factory graphics, Zulu finishes, etc. If I had to write about all of the instruments of all brands that got away (buying opportunity muffed or personal collection items that were sold) it'd make a long book...but that's probably the case for most of us.
HSB0531 Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 A Fender Walnut Elite II FRETLESS.And a Hamer Quadbass.
gorch Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 ...Wonder how many 2PU models are out there. ... Don't wonder, ask the customer service.
Brooks Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 no regrets for me. the only thing that would be hard to replace is my #1 duotone (i've owned 5 usa's duotones and 1 import, plus a slew of other hamers, but my #1 is THE best, and i'm keeping it forever).well, i DO wish i held onto my '63 fender jazzmaster& original ts808; not because i miss them, but because i sold them before they were worth soooo much $$$
sirDaniel Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 noneI still have the first. the rest were just fluff.... or not HAMERS
edgar_allan_poe Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 The only one I *truly* regret selling is on its way back to me. I sold everything after I discovered Nik Huber guitars, and believe me, there were some *very* cool pieces. Jacksons, Hamers, Gibsons, vintage PRS, and a slew of Bakers. I have owned over a dozen Bakers. This is still the only guitar I regret selling. The other one would be a really tasty Jackson PC-1, but this particular Baker just slaps everything else around. It doesn't have anywhere *near* the versatility of my Hubers or my Schroeder. But they lack its massive lower midrange growl and balls out rock tone. All mahogany and a 25.5 scale neck with ebony board. Mr. Gale has agreed to sell it back to me and I cannot thank him enough for his generosity. Jim is one of the *really* good guys around here.
BillW Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 How about Hamers you now regret letting go.. this from around '92 or '93.. (thud).....

bubs_42 Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 BWAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is FREAKIN AWSOME! Not that the others are bad but this one is unique.
Wally Gator Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Early natural T-51 bought new from Make'N Music. Antiquity in bridge position - lushious. Weight of solid ash - atrocious. Missing my first Tele - calamartious!
