Simply put, I was not man enough for this guitar. I wish I still had it, simply to look at it:

What do you mean, the sound was good, but it didn't feel right in your hands?

It was the LOUDEST guitar I've ever owned, plugged, unplugged or otherwise. Even after a pickup swap I could not tame it thru my main rig.

Yeah, I know. When have I been opposed to LOUD? This guitar was just too much.

Well, we all have to go with what works. I'm sure it found a good home.

BTW - now it sports Joe Bonamassa signature on the side and WB Custom ordered hot PAF's.

They have asymmetrical necks that are very comfortable to play. Tone is out of this world, even though it was quite heavy. I was having some neck and shoulder problems at the time, so it had to go.

About a decade ago, I scored a pawn shop deal on a black U.S. Hamer bass that had a P/J configuration, dot markers, and three chrome Tele-type knobs. Nothing fancy at all, and I got it for a song on accounta the magnet on one side of the P-type pickup was broken and wouldn't put out. Replaced with a Fender pickup.

For whatever reasons, it felt balanced and just about perfect, ergonomically (for me, at least).

This would have made a great utility bass had I retained it. However, with only dot markers and no neck binding, I couldn't see where I was too well, and that was the reason/excuse for parting with it...but I could just have easily stuck white adhesive dot markers on the bass side of the fretboard and/or larger ones on the side of the neck.

Over the decades, I passed up many others in pawn shops before I garnered an appreciation for the brand's quality, including ones with wild factory graphics, Zulu finishes, etc.

If I had to write about all of the instruments of all brands that got away (buying opportunity muffed or personal collection items that were sold) it'd make a long book...but that's probably the case for most of us.

A Fender Walnut Elite II FRETLESS.

And a Hamer Quadbass.

no regrets for me. the only thing that would be hard to replace is my #1 duotone

(i've owned 5 usa's duotones and 1 import, plus a slew of other hamers, but my #1 is THE best, and i'm keeping it forever).

well, i DO wish i held onto my '63 fender jazzmaster

& original ts808; not because i miss them,

but because i sold them before they were worth soooo much $$$

The only one I *truly* regret selling is on its way back to me. I sold everything after I discovered Nik Huber guitars, and believe me, there were some *very* cool pieces. Jacksons, Hamers, Gibsons, vintage PRS, and a slew of Bakers. I have owned over a dozen Bakers. This is still the only guitar I regret selling. The other one would be a really tasty Jackson PC-1, but this particular Baker just slaps everything else around. It doesn't have anywhere *near* the versatility of my Hubers or my Schroeder. But they lack its massive lower midrange growl and balls out rock tone.

All mahogany and a 25.5 scale neck with ebony board.

Mr. Gale has agreed to sell it back to me and I cannot thank him enough for his generosity. Jim is one of the *really* good guys around here.

Early natural T-51 bought new from Make'N Music. Antiquity in bridge position - lushious. Weight of solid ash - atrocious. Missing my first Tele - calamartious!
