velorush Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Quoting myself from the 'Chase A Guitar For Years' thread:I've been begging to buy back a guitar I sold to a buddy twenty years ago - late '60's ES-355, mono, non-Varitone - refinished, yes, and all the gold hardware swapped out for nickel, but nothing sings like that guitar! Thing is, he no longer plays and it just sits under his bed. He won't sell it because, even though he no longer plays it, if he sells it he feels he no longer will be a "Guitar Player." I've offered to trade him something just so he'd have something under the bed, but nothing doing.
veatch Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Miss it, but selling it was the right thing to do. Still wish Mitch would have got it...
guitarzandstuff Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 I miss this one BAD!!! This one too though a Dean Custom Shop, not Hamer...
BruceM Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 I let this T-51f get away once, and I DID regret it. I bought this one for $500 soon after discovering the HFC in the late 90's from a shop in Nashville that was blowing out their inventory. I've owned lots of T-51s since, and this one is still hands down my favorite. A few years back, I sold it to Peso. He had admired it from afar for years, and I just had to let him have it. A few years after that, he was ready to move it, and thank goodness offered it back to me. I jumped on it, and have was pleased to discover that it came back with some Peso-mods that made it even better than before. He added a tone control and different pickups. It's still my favorite Hamer of all that I own, and that's saying something. My nephew Paul manhandles the guitar in this pic from the recent August HFC jam at the 4-3-2-1. This was just days before Paul left for college in Madison. I went for many years without selling any guitars, I finally came to my senses and began to move a few. This is the only one I've ever really wanted back, though.
tommy p Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 BWAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As a guy looking for his first Standard, I'm speechless. I am without speech.
mathman Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 I had an old pointy ibanez I bought around 1985 or so. I don't even remember the model. I loved that guitar but I couldn't afford it and had to sell it. I don't even have a picture of it. All my other guitars (except the Hondo II) I still have.
