Hamerhack Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Saw Donovan with my son a few years ago. Mesmerizing speaking voice. Who gets your vote?
gtone Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Was never a big Van Halen fan, but I always was in awe of David Lee Roth's "whiskey-strained" voice back in the day - speaking or singing. Robert Plant, Robin Zander and Paul McCartney were all great singers, but their speaking voices seemed somewhat pedestrian.
HSB0531 Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Speaking voice?Frank Zappa. He could make anything sound very funny.
Jack C Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Paul Stanley. "We've got ourselves a rock n roll party tonight. Woooo!"
friendofjaco Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Miles DavisAbsolutely Miles. His voice was so raspy and could only muster a whisper but combined with the look he could give you was like crankin' it to 11.Also love B.B. King's southern drawl when he's story tellin'.And Ted Nugent has a great speaking voice in a very smart ass kinda way...

santellavision Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Lou Reed. He can't sing for sh!t, but I like this tune where he speaks it.Lou Reed - "Baby Face"
Gitslide Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 David Coverdale, for sure. But definitely not Cindy Lauper

cmatthes Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Paul Stanley. "We've got ourselves a rock n roll party tonight. Woooo!" Or... "Gimme a sixth peeth and make it JUITHY!!!"
HamerHokie Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Ronnie James Dio, because he sounds like one of the 'Superfans' from the old SNL skits.
lesterpaul Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 I always liked Axl's speaking voice better than his singin'....and Neil FAllon from Clutch has got that voice thang happenin'...gots to be GreG Allman, however, for my no.1
Willie G. Moseley Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Elvis.More than one Englishter, like Long John Baldry and Gary Brooker; even the ones whose voice is so stuffy they're speaking English and you still can't understand 'em like Pete Townshend and one of the Gallagher bros.Actor David Hemmings was on the original live version of Rick Wakeman's JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH, but since that was narration/spoken word, I don't suppose that counts. Eloquent, however.
