The seller has a deposit on it already. I am next in line, I will post an update if it falls through.

Uh oh! Blood in the water!

Yep. blood in the water is correct. Not a word was said because most of us are probably going after it lol. I'm also in line. I'm guessing someone local got it?

It'll be interesting to see what the actual final selling price will be on this one! The last "cheap" Cali Elite I recall seeing for sale skyrocketed in price when somebody emailed the seller and led them to believe that it was easily a $3k guitar. I'm pretty sure that wasn't anywhere NEAR the final selling price, but that seller ended up listing it on eBay at about double the current going rate right after that.

Good luck to all of you going after this one - hope somebody here snags it!

Yeah it will be interesting. Esquire, when did you contact him? I sent him an email to him two days ago. Said he will get back to me when he gets paypal figured out, but haven't heard from him since. It seems that you and I are always battling over the CL listing lol :D . I wanted that chappie sustainer bad, but as you know, the guy wouldn't ship himself. You definitely went the extra mile though! And yes, I hope someone here snags it!

I dont know if someone local got it, he just said he had a deposit?

I also contacted him on Wednesday. Anyhow, when he told me he had a deposit, he also mentioned that maybe his price was low and that he did some "research" after listing the guitar and it is worth a lot more. Cant say where that is heading, I have my suspicions and we will see where that ends up, ha.

So from now on DarrenD, you should send me a note and ask if its ok to buy a guitar on CL hehehehehehe... seriously though, not a big deal, it is just another guitar. I dont get too hung up on the regular stuff (granted the Cali Elite's are popular), there will be another one around the corner. We should keep in touch, just in case all of a sudden the seller has one for everyone that asks???? trouble!

This board was great in helping me find a Cali a few years ago that turned into another , that has turned into half a dozen Hamers.

Thanks everyone!

Now is someone put a Watson back on here for $550(IIRC that was the $ someone got one for), then there would be blood in the water and on the keyboard, yahoo!

Lol yeah man I'll let you know. There are always deals to be made. It's more of an addiction for me I think. I get an adrenaline rush when I see a guitar listed at a good deal. That, and I get bored a lot. :D

The guy hasn't been replying to my mail at all. me want cali!

here is his very fast answer on my request:

"Thanks for replying but someone has offered $1300 for the Cali. I have gotten so many responses and bids it is crazy.

But thanks for the reply.

Take care,

Jimi"

i'm on it too! + many others :D

guess offering >$2k could make the deal!

i'm sure that guy knows about the value.

It is back up on CL now for .... you guessed it $2K

Amazing how quick everyone is to tell someone that their guitar is worth way more and then all of a sudden the price goes up and they dont sell it for what everyone told them it was worth (nobody ever steps up and pays you what they said it is worth).

Anyhow, here is the link

I hear ya'...it's almost like some of these people e-mailing CL sellers telling them how much their stuff is 'really' worth (and usually not actually buying) can't stand to see someone else get a great deal on a guitar? Ah well, Craigslist is becoming like that now anyway...almost a waste of time contacting these sellers when you do see a super deal because 20 other people start tossing out higher dollar amounts to the point where you've no longer got a for sale add but an auction on your hands. Might as well just put it up on ebay and save everybody's time.

Yap. I also hear ya. It's tough to snag good deals when people tell them how much it is worth right away. I emailed the guy about an hour after he originally listed it for $600. I thought I definitely had it. I told him I would pay via paypal and full shipping charges as soon as I received his paypal address -- He agreed and was excited. Of course, I never heard back since. The only way to really snag a good deal is if you immediately contact the seller before anyone tells them what it's worth. If they delay with paypal, then your basically SOL. Yeah, the guy can get more for it. But seriously, it is so easy to make a simple search on the net to find the value of guitars. If a person sells a guitar for a low price and knows absolutely nothing about it (with the easy availability of the net) -- then I have no sorrow if they later do find out the guitar was priced low. But it seems my constant CL searches usually do nothing if a good deal arises. I just like the adrenaline rushes when there are sweet guitars listed for super cheap prices -- kind of like fishing -- wait and then BAM! Then it's just a matter of reeling it in.

i don't think it was enviousness.

when i offered my price he had already better offers.

no wonder!

sure there were lot of people bidding way more than $600.

I can't blame anyone for wanting to get top dollar for their item, but if you don't know what it's worth, eBay makes way more sense. The only real way to get a killer deal is if you're local. But then, that was the whole idea of CL in the first place, so it makes no sense to bitch about missing out if you're not local IMO.

Totally agree.... I dont mind people wanting top dollar but if things get too much attention they end up going from low to way high (with no way high buyers out there, well not cash wise)... just frustrating some times.

I guess my problem is most of these guitars are only buy-it-at-the-right-price guitars. If there was something that I really really wanted or had to have then I never have a problem stepping up with some real money to make sure I get it and then I dont complain when I cant get out of it what I have in it.

big smile!

getting attention is offering a flamed maple cali for $600 ;)

i'm doing commercials - can't do it better!

Don't know if this ones been posted or not but just saw it on craigs with a really low price and figured I'd pass the info on to the lucky right handed people.

As you all know, this went to E(vil) Bay and after a flurry of last minute bidding, went for 1925.00 plus shipping. My bidding stopped at 1900 which is outrageous to pay for a Cali Elite(even one that's flamed and emerald green!) but I was full-on in the throes of GAS especially for that awesome color! Sour grapes moment- hopefully it wasn't some one on here - but I'm glad I didn't win it @ 1925... :P

Glad I worked through my Cali lust when I could get a flame maple one for $900, no way would I pay the prices they're going for nowadays!

I'm with you Austin. That seems like alot of money to toss into a used guitar unless you're into collecting guitars as a future investment (which is cool if that's your thing). Most of us here would probably sound just as good playing on a $400 Diablo (or similar) and not be worried to bring it out to a gig. To anybody who missed out on this one I'd say be patient and keep looking, a better deal will most likely pop up. Of course it will probably be on Craigslist and 20 people will e-mail the seller telling him/her they're selling it far too cheap...well you know where that will lead...ebay! :P
