Young Tim(Hamerhead) can give the backstory on this one. When it arrived at the shop, this is what I found in the case.....

Yes, that is a truss rod channel full of bondo, a THICK layer of brushed on paint and a severely broken headstock.

Looking closer at the back of the neck, we find....

4HHS.jpg

Why, the neck's nothing BUT bondo!

A couple of hours later.......

Good God, this thing is worse than I though! If I hadn't found this....

...I would have trashed it. BUT....it's the 89th Hamer Sunburst made, from 1977. After a long phone conversation with our owner, the decision is made to move forward.

Full armor on, kids, this one will be a battle.

Yep, the only one that I owned that was thicker than any other one i've had was the 78 that now lives in FL. Thicker by about the width of the binding.

And it resides happily here in Florida! Thanks, Bubs.

Your welcome, that is a sweet one. All my Sunburst's are now gone away. Only Vintage Hamer I have is the 4 Digit, I guess no one wants that one.

Thinner.

Sure... Take eight months to reply. : )

Beautiful work, by the way! Nice to see the excitement/pride in your efforts. Well deserved! Thanks again for sharing. A beautiful Sunburst.

Was curious if the earliest thinner ones went as high as this in the numbering sequence. I recall only my 7 002? having the thinner body, but then again, it took Paul(or was it Jay) to point that out to me! : o

Things like this are the reason I came back, good grief, ultimate kudos to Greg/BCR on this, simply amazing and brings joy to my black heart. If I ever get the cash my 83 Phanton is getting driven directly to BCR HQ for a wizardly restoration. Hell any work at all on my Hamers!
