Tal Wilkenfeld with Jeff Beck. She was 21 and had been playing bass for all of 4 years during this tour with Jeff Beck.

Well, there's still drums, but I could listen and groove to this guy by himself all day.

and a little different kind of bass solo in the first 50 seconds, but every bit as brilliant and inspiring to me as a player...

Sheehan's a monster. I got to play Dean's Kubicki in a little store in Clovis, NM in the early 90's when he stopped by while driving through town. Really nice guy and great player, and left me a copy of "Ucross" as well.

Fishbone's "Bonin in the Boneyard" has about 20 seconds of crazy bass solo that's also up at the top for me.

Well I am not sure if these count as bass solo's, but they sure are a couple of wicked bass lines. Geezer Bulter's line to start off NIB and Dennis Dunaway's line to start off Dead Babies. Both of those gentlemen are locked in on those songs. And just about anything by Larry Graham.

My favorite: Atlanta Rhythm Section's Paul Goddard's amazing solo on the live version of "Another Man's Woman", from the ARS live album "Are You Ready!". About 3 minutes worth of Ampeg SVT-fueled Rickenbacker 4001 greatness.

Nice guitar playing throughout that album from J.R. Cobb and the underrated Barry Bailey, as well. Always tasty.

Unfortunately, this is very hard to find because Polydor (or whoever owns that label these days) has never seen fit to reissue this on CD - but well worth checking out if you find a used LP or something.

not a bass solo per se but maybe my fave bass performance ever, the way he comps her singing is just brilliant............
