zorrow Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 I'd say it's Jackson, as the Randy Rhoads V, the King V and the Kelly have all reached legendary status at this point. Frankly, when I think metal I think Jackson before any other brand. However, maybe both ESP (with Metallica's, George Lynch's, the DV-8 and others) and B.C. Rich (with Kerry King's V and Warrior, as well as Chuck Schudilner's Stealth) follow closely. I also added Dean to the poll, because of Dime's Dean From Hell + some many other guitars played by the new breed of metal bands (Arch Enemy's, Trivium...), even if Dean's palette equally covers other less metal artists, such as Michael Schenker --just to mention one... I completed the list (or so I think) with Schecter, Washburn and Ibanez. Ok, the later we all know it's not purely metal, but it's popular enough amongst metal players and shredders to deserve a place in the list, right? So, which one would you choose and why?
Jeff R Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Gotta go BC Rich on this one. Unless there's some starving Delta blues artist in rural Mississippi playing a Warlock I'm unaware of.
Ethan Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 I'd pick BC Rich too-Jackson's made lots of other different kinds of stuff, like the Surfcaster and the Jazz'R series.
Ted Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 +1 for BC Rich(Also Bernie Rico Guitars thinking of this lineage).
santellavision Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 I voted Dean. You never see anyone with a Dean that is NOT playing Metal. Can't say that about the other brands in the poll.
zenmindbeginner Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 BC Rich + Black Finish + the key of F# = the most Metal
Ethan Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 I voted Dean. You never see anyone with a Dean that is NOT playing Metal. Can't say that about the other brands in the poll. What about the Cars!
Steve Haynie Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 No Hamer listing? Yeah. Was Hamer not trying to shed its "metal guitar" image since the move to Connecticut? A Scepter or a Scarab really scream "METAL!" at first sight. I voted Dean. You never see anyone with a Dean that is NOT playing Metal. Can't say that about the other brands in the poll. Early Dean endorsers included Kansas and The Doobie Brothers. B.C. Rich came up with some designs that can only be used in metal. Not just metal, but death metal and beyond. The blackest, darkest, most woeful metal needs B.C. Rich! They could use Satan as their "biggest" endorser.
Armitage Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 I voted Dean. You never see anyone with a Dean that is NOT playing Metal. Can't say that about the other brands in the poll. The Cars, ZZ Top, Leslie West... I had to vote B.C. Rich... I can't tell you how many times people tell me I can't play a particular piece on a B.C. Rich guitar because it's too metal...
Travis Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Gotta go BC Rich on this one. Unless there's some starving Delta blues artist in rural Mississippi playing a Warlock I'm unaware of. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
sirDaniel Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Nothing more metal than this.... Elviras neice? She has a future at NAMM
sledhead44 Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Even before I saw the List of Mfg's I was thinking BC Rich. I just sold my Beast...it kept poking me in all the wrong places. Now I'm Gassing for a Gunslinger.
zenmindbeginner Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Anton Lavey played a BC Rich fo shizzle. Evil Warlock plays evil warlock.
Feynman Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Gotta go BC Rich on this one. Unless there's some starving Delta blues artist in rural Mississippi playing a Warlock I'm unaware of. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Super Chikan... (I learned about him here on the HFC) ("James Super Chikan Johnson is a Delta blues musician, guitar maker and artist based in Clarksdale, Mississippi.") STILL, I voted Jackson - Jackson is "my" idea of the metal guitar company.
BillW Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 I went with Dean, My other choice would have been BC Rich..I dunno ..I 've some a couple folks playing BC Riches w/out being totally 'metal'...not so with dean AFAIK- Bill
ton13 Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I vote Jackson and the second is Bc Rich. these bands are match for metal style.I ever had both bands . just the guitar look good for Metal but the sound & feelling came from underneath ur heart even u use Classical guitar. i guess......
BubbaVO Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Charvel and their superstrats were pretty popular back in the day.
zorrow Posted August 4, 2010 Author Posted August 4, 2010 Yeah, I should have added both Kramer and Charvel to the list.
