diablo175 Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Tough call... I voted for Jackson (lumping Charvel in with Jackson clinches it) but BC Rich definitely has some serious contention for that spot. I am little surprised Ibanez didn't get more votes. Ever since Vai and Satch and the host of late 80's shredders who were endorsers for Ibanez came forth, I'd have expected a bigger response. In the end, I still think the archetypal metal axes belong to Jackson, though. BC Rich may have the more extreme-looking axes but Jackson has long been the name and the standard for metal music of all kinds.
landon w Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Gotta go BC Rich on this one. Unless there's some starving Delta blues artist in rural Mississippi playing a Warlock I'm unaware of. Super Chikan... (I learned about him here on the HFC) ("James Super Chikan Johnson is a Delta blues musician, guitar maker and artist based in Clarksdale, Mississippi.") STILL, I voted Jackson - Jackson is "my" idea of the metal guitar company. THIS HAS TO BE THE COOLEST PIC IVE SEEN IN A WHILE
DaveL Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 I voted Dean. You never see anyone with a Dean that is NOT playing Metal. Can't say that about the other brands in the poll. I had always though Elliot Easton playing a Dean ML on the back of "Candy O" (or I think that was the album) was the COOLEST My vote: Charvel and it's really not the same as Jackson, Charvel'scan be taken apart, put back together (although some people abuse this) painted all crazy... just a boatload of fun if you ask me...
BillW Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 "I had always though Elliot Easton playing a Dean ML on the back of "Candy O" (or I think that was the album) was the COOLEST "yep - you're right forgot about that ... I suppose ZZtop counts as non metal, too...
Submariner85 Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 The new Mustaine Bio has several pics of him playing a 10 string Bich years ago. Now I want one.
Rodan Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 You can call me a fogey, cause my awareness of B.C. Rich is split between the original, maple and koa, Eagles, Mockingbirds, Seagulls and Biches and the later, Ironbirds, Warlocks and superstrats... The older designs/shapes were just genius, IMHO. They always looked organic to me, though - not specifically metal. Later, they started spraying them pink, purple and fluorescent colors. You know, whatever. The 'Rich guys I always think of are Derringer, Whitford, Perry, Wagner and Hunter.
Brownsound Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 I love BC Rich, I mean I really love BC Rich, but no way in hell they top Jackson as being the "Most Metal Guitar". Just not happenin'
Steve Haynie Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Jackson or B.C. Rich-- Are you more into the hair or into the metal?
