Armitage Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I'll believe it when it's in stock on Amazon.com

unfun75 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Chinese Democracy?I hope its not that bad.If we ever see one I kinda expect it will be, remember VH3.I try to forget it.
silentman Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 There are all kinds of rumors. The album is done. They just went into the studio. who knows. It won't live up to the hype.
SteveB Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I must be the only one on the planet that likes VH3.
Hackubus Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 My favorite memory of VH3 was throwing the cd out of the car window. Oddly enough, that's the same favorite memory I have of Velvet Revolver's debut.
Feynman Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I must be the only one on the planet that likes VH3.That would be my guess as well.
Disturber Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Chinese Democracy?I hope its not that bad. WFT? I think Chinese Democracy is a killer album. Great songs, arrangments, mixing and mastering. It really grows, took a while to get into it. Now I think it's a classic.
edgar_allan_poe Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I must be the only one on the planet that likes VH3.While I don't like the album at all, I am one of the few who don't blame Cherone for that debacle. I don't believe for one second that he had any input into those tunes. My guess is that they were mostly already done before Sammy left and they tried to make Cherone sing the songs the way Sammy would have. It is the only thing that makes any sense. If you follow Cherones career he never sounded anything like that or even phrased any of his lines like he did on that album.Sorry but IMHO the debacle that was VH3 is solely on the shoulders of the VH bros.
edgar_allan_poe Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 No Michael Anthony=No Van Halen.Disagree. VH will always be about Roth and Eddie. I don't discount his contributions, especially when it comes to singing, but come on.
Hackubus Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I'm with ya EAP. I don't hold Cherone to blame either. The dude tried. He's got this look on his face on the live clips from that tour that look like to me he's thinking "holy crap, I'm singing for Van Halen!"
Ethan Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I dunno, I saw them the first night of their reunion tour a few years ago and I sure missed Michael...
edgar_allan_poe Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I dunno, I saw them the first night of their reunion tour a few years ago and I sure missed Michael...No doubt, but I can think of anyone who goes to see VH just for the bass player. People go see VH for Dave and Eddie.

People go see VH for Dave and Eddie.+1 , it's all about eddie and roth , i for one have faith they will put out the first van halen album i will purchase since 5150...........................
Travis Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I'm looking forward to it. I like both major eras of VH, Roth and Hagar. And I liked a good portion of VH3. I do agree that Cherone was channeling Sammy on that album.Either way, I'll buy it.
Cary Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I'm with ya EAP. I don't hold Cherone to blame either. The dude tried. He's got this look on his face on the live clips from that tour that look like to me he's thinking "holy crap, I'm singing for Van Halen!""and those four audience members seem to be really digging it!"
svl Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I don't know what the disc will sound like, but I think it's a pretty good bet it'll be out by late summer, and that we'll see a late in the year tour. I am super stoked in any event. And +2 on Dave and Eddie, they're the main attraction.
marcus2 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 My favorite memory of VH3 was throwing the cd out of the car window. Oddly enough, that's the same favorite memory I have of Velvet Revolver's debut. There was one big upside to VH3 being what it was: demand fell so much that I was able to score 2nd row tickets easily and *finally* got to watch Eddie play classic songs up close. From that perspective, the lead singer was a secondary concern.
gi_zuk Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Yes, I agree Eddie and Dave are the main attractions, but without Michael's background vocals (which I heard were sampled/midi tracked on the last tour) a lot of the trademark VH sound will be missing. I'm sure they'll do some studio magic to mimic his vocals though. It's like AC/DC-the main attractions are Angus and Brian. However, the people really holding everything together and creating the base sound/groove is the rhythm section. Pull out Malcolm, Phil, or Cliff (possibly to a lesser degree) and it simply will not sound the same.I have had all the Roth era albums since I was a kid and I really love those albums. 5150 was a good album as well, but they lost me after that. I think EVH has pretty much fried his brain after 30+ years of nonstop drug and alcohol abuse, so I have a tendency to believe the new album will suck. VH4 = VH3
Hackubus Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I'm with ya EAP. I don't hold Cherone to blame either. The dude tried. He's got this look on his face on the live clips from that tour that look like to me he's thinking "holy crap, I'm singing for Van Halen!""and those four audience members seem to be really digging it!"LOL I'd made #5 if they'd got anywhere near me.
tommy p Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I saw the VHIII lineup from the second row and the best part of that show was when Michael sang Somebody Get Me A Doctor. They did another song where Gary, Eddie, and Michael each sang a verse but I've forgotten which one it was. The entire show there was a guy giving Cherone the finger and screaming F**k YOU!
