atquinn Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Finally got a chance to watch this and I thought it was great. I would have preferred slightly more cookie monster vocals (I can't believe I'm writing that ), but really, I thought it was great. Good on you guys! -Austin
Jeroen Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Hey Kevin, This is really great stuff!!! Though I was always more to the glamrock/bluesrock side, I really dig this music!!Great sound and for sure some good video show/works!!!!!!Keep it going!!!!Jeroen
blackfbiv Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 You gotsta love the Christian rock! Hahahaha... yeah... Great track... I may pick that up as a gift for my son... he likes 'the metal'... me too. I was a little weirded out by the fact that your intrepid singer seemed to be looking to the lright side of the screen and not directly on camera. I woulda crapped my pants if it was a late night YouTube session. "Why's he looking behind me? " I dang well expect to be hearing this on Hardradio.com!!!
kevinbower1959 Posted March 14, 2011 Author Posted March 14, 2011 Maybe this would be a good separate thread, but I'd like to hear your comments on your live/recording setup, if you use other guitars to record besides the Standard, etc. Short version reply - for this recording, we used; Standard (Seymour Duncan SH5 custom bridge/SH1 '59 neck) Ibanez TS9 standard Tubescreamer, everything on 11 o'clock Boss NS2 gate Peavey 5150 head Mesa 4 x 12" (the larger version) Close-mic'd using SM57 pointing straight at the cone Ambient room mic'd using Neumann U87 Recorded in ProTools, through SSL AWS900+ SE I take it you're not interested in details of my keyboard rig If you want the whole live setup and more info, please feel free to PM me
Dasein Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 The singer looks like the bastard who was sleeping with my ex-wife (when she was known as my wife) .... I hate that guy. Even after 14 years I hate him still..... So i'm watching you and doing internet research now. If your singer just disappears one day you'll know why. The singer's my kid brother. It wasn't him, you have my word. I know every chick he's ever been involved with. Besides, he's gay. Someone on YouTube said that, so it must be true I Know it's not him.... it was just a flashback. I had hoped the demons had gone away by now -- what with the whole gunny sack and baseball bat episode done and gone. Who knew you couldn't get closure digging a hole in a cane field. Live and learn I guess. Next time I'll take meds.
Crimsontider Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 The singer reminds me of Father Karass from the exorcist with good King Diamond type appeal.
devrock Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Kevin,Wow! GREAT music! Nice to see something fresh coming along in metal today. Your whole band's sound is just monstrous (although some of the solo work was mixed too low for my liing). I love it. I don't really care for the theatrics, but that's cuz I'm an old fart (39) at this point. lol And, yeah, nice to see a Hamer rocking some killer metal! Looks like I have a new album to buy!
Ted Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 How could I have not mentioned this yet; Standards=Rock A Black Standard with a Floyd is Rock Royalty.Incredible Job Kevin to you and The Band.
diablo175 Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Kev, KICK ass material, man. Lockstep tight and solid production. Imagery and lyrics are certainly provocative which is what this vein of music as all about. My hats off to ya for keeping it alive and thriving! One item: your singer kept reminding me of another I had heard and I puzzled and puzzed trying to remember who, when it finally came to me: Mike Howe of Metal Church ( who replaced David Wayne) Check it out:
