How To Test Resistance On A Pickup?

Folks want to know for an item I have on eBay, I don't exactly how to do it. I have a 5-conductor Duncan and multi-meter. Googled but results are too wordy. Can you share a dolt-proof step by step how to?

Messing around I'm getting 7's, 13's, and 15's. Are those #'s on track?

Thanks!

Dave, go by the Duncan wiring diagram to connect the two wires you need to connect to make it a full humbucker. I forget which colors they are, but the diagram has it. Then put your meter leads on the two remaining wires. Ignore the ground wire. If you have a digital multimeter, you probably won't need to set the dial to the Kilohms range, if not, do that. The reading you get is the DC resistance of the pickup. Make sure you have a good firm contact.

Depending on the pickup any of those numbers are plausible, but if it's your typical rawk humbucker, the 13-15K reading is probably closer to the truth.

Join the red & white together (which joins both single-coils) & measure the green & black wires with your multimeter set at -20k-ohms (if yours as that setting as mine does). Reason you were getting measurements of 8 is cos you were reading 1 coil at a time...
