hamerhead Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Couldn't spell 'hammer'. Actually, this was the first board I ever joined - waaaaaaay back when - and it was the only thing I could come up with at the time. Now, I'm 'hamerhead' on ebay, the Taylor forum, some Mustang forums, etc..... I'd probably have put a little more thought into it if I knew it was going to be with me for so long.
FunkyE9th Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 I was in a band that played some funky stuff so I played a lot E9. Plus it sounded better than BouncyC.
tomteriffic Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Tom Terrific was a character in a serial animated story on Captain Kangaroo when I was a kid. Most Esteemed Redhead hung the appellation on me early in our relationship and it stuck. A couple of minutes after Al Gore invented teh intarwebs, I needed a handle and TomT (spelled correctly), was already taken. I misspelled Terrific with one R and two F's and, bingo. It has been my handle in most places ever since.
Toadroller Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 It was either Toadroller or Squidhopper. Both are lovingly taken from an episode of "3-2-1 Penguins!" an animated (and very funny) kids show by the folks who brought us VeggieTales' Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber. Specifically, the game-pieces in the game squid-tack-toad, from "The Cheating Scales of Bullamanka" episode: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3-2-1_Penguin...s_of_Bullamanka Like most, I was looking for a handle obscure enough to be used on many sites. Lo and behold, Toadroller has proven to be quite conveniently available.
DaveH Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Have Hamer, Will HackHack: To play inexpert guitarHeh, maybe I should change mine to 'Clams'.Like most, I was looking for a handle obscure enough to be used on many sites. Lo and behold, Toadroller has proven to be quite conveniently available.LOL, I knew someone years ago who got really frustrated trying to come up with an AOL email address....it kept kicking back every one he tried. Finally in desperation, he entered 'snailfart'. It worked.
Hbom Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 I lost the vision in my right eye when I was younger. Now I'm old.I'm a Half Blind Old Man

ib2010 Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 For about 4 years my axe was an Ibanez IMG2010 midi guitar . My band ANT FARM (before alien ant farm was on the scene ) did our own tunes , and i had a blast writing with the sonic capabilities in mind . Think 85% strait guitar ADA-Marshal800+yamg100-- + 15% warm flugelhorn (tx7-proteus-yam100 2-12 +direct to pa ) the flugels would only "surface" when a note was sustained- and then whammied-only effecting the flugels. like heavenly overtones waiting for a "Pause". Just one of my favorite sounds. So i be , ib2010
e-isle rock Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 I was stationed on Kodiak Island, Alaska when I joined the HFC. Kodiak is also called the emerald island because it is so green in the summer. And rock is the music I like to play.
anotherfreak Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 HHHhmmmmmm...........late 90's just scored the most amaizing Hamer daytona, and wanted to know more about it. did some internet research at the library and found a bulletin board the HFC, after lurking for a while, I signed up to be able to participate(complain) about the first custom guitar I ever ordered(Newport Pro in Salmon Blush) was then, and am presently, a freak fanboy of Hamer USA
coolfeel Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Mine comes from 2 words I used in a sentence to describe the music of the band I was in at the time: "A great big blast o' cool feeling"! Looks kinda silly now that I look back on it...lol
Gitslide Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Gitslide . . . pretty easy, right? I play slide guitar. At one of the HFC factory tour/jams I played Jeff Beck's 'Cause We've Ended As Lovers on slide guitar. That was fun.
doody Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 years ago, and a previous version of this board, Jason01 was checking the board from my house and created this moniker to log on with. Fast forward a couple years and I bought my first Hamer. When I tried to join, my IP address was already assigned to doody. He could of at least capitalized it. It is kinda descriptive of how my playing sounds though.
Turdus Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Spotted "Turdus M" on a license plate.. laughed my ass off as I pulled up beside the car, expecting to find Spicoli driving. I was surprised to find it was a little old lady. Came home, looked up Turdus, and found it is a bird of some kind. Guess we know where "turd" comes from now.
gtone Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Built a few combo, head and 1x12" cabs a few years back and half-assed jokingly under the "GouldTone" brand (Gould being my last name). Although I sold most of that gear since then, I still have the original 1X12 prototype with a big letter "G" hand-carved from pine and painted gold in the middle of the speaker cutout on the baffle board. Won't part with that cab for sentimental reasons and it never leaves my music room either.
Sentinel Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 "Sentinel" is the title of the first song on the Mike Oldfield album "Tubular bells 2". But as I'm from Sweden I didn't know what the word meant, I just thought it was a beautiful word.Only later I realised what it stands for. But it kept it anyway.(I elsewhere use the name Riffboy - and that is joke, because I'm not really that great guitar player AND I'm definitely not young!)
dboy66 Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 My crazy Polish mother named me after her favorite Irish song, "Dannyboy", hence "dboy" has been my net handle in various permutations since '96. And, well, '66 was a good year.
Celtic_Bill Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Irish by ethnicity, came from a Celtic tribe that was "incorporated" into a Viking family by conquest, Mom wanted to name me Liam, Dad couldn't stand the name, so I was given the "civilized" English equivalent...
mathman Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 I can't remember what it stands for. Take a look around...
