coolfeel Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 The other thread here got me thinking of which Hamer's might be considered the most unique or "highly custom" to be made. Would love to hear what has been made or is being made.
Feynman Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 I had a Studio-ish model in a '59 sort of burst once. That has to be extremely rare.
atquinn Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 There are probably hundres that are equally unique in terms of there not being anything with the exact same specs. My 06 Floyded Studio is pretty unique in it's feature set. So, is the PesoPro. I always got to Keller's archtop Chappifornian when this question comes up though because I've never seen anything remotely like it.-Austin
gwayne Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Phoenix's old-growth cedar-topped Duotone wih the inlaid bridge gets my vote. I hope someone has a pic of that one.
silentman Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Yup, just going by all the customs ordered by members of the HFC, there are many examples of custom orders. I have 3 customs myself: a Standard Custom, a Studio Custom and a Watson. There's a Jr and a monaco Jr with a sustain block bridge, green burst standard, the punisher standard, etc...

That is a sersiously sweet guitar man. Seriously. I would love to have something like that.Does the thickness impact the tone any in your opinion? I will share a nugget on my Chap thats being made - it will be quite thick, according to Jamie H at KMC it will be Les Paul thick. I think from a tone stand point, that would add another element of cool.

I'm not sure how it affects the tone exactly, but my idea was to replace some of the mahogany that was removed in the bellcut and floyd rout to kind of maintain the usual mahogany-to-maple ratio that is in a regular Studio. It sounds good, so I can't complain. - Austin

A BIG +1 on the Punisher Standard! Man, I wish somebody would order the whole LINE of Hamers in that scheme! I also liked a custom Standard in a US Flag color scheme that was done a couple of years ago.
veatch Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 This thread needs pics... I'm not too shy to start. True Custom Order: And a stock Mirage with a BCR mod or three (tain't seen another one like it, so it's unique ): Edited for spelink.
atquinn Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 I'm sure this has been asked and answered, but what pickups are in that bad boy? -Austin
veatch Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Greg: show off. Probably the coolest set eva. I'm sure this has been asked and answered, but what pickups are in that bad boy? GregWinds.
coolfeel Posted April 9, 2011 Author Posted April 9, 2011 This is getting really good. Keep it coming guys...
Jason01 Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 I would say Ricks sax guitar or the uncle dick guitar
BCR Greg Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Greg: show off. /quote] No....THIS is showing off.....
G Man Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 No....THIS is showing off..... And you do it with such style too. Here's my contribution, not too many of these around to begin with, and this one has had the BCR treatment.
tbonesullivan Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 ok this thread is fueling Hamer GAS like nothing else. I'm trying to forget about the triple threat i saw used at one shop, the Magnificent 7 over at Willcutt (as well as the other hamers), the 12 string Eclipse and Centaura and other hamer goodies over at BCR.Of course, for unique hamers though, I think Nielsen's 5 necked guitars probably take the cake in terms of build difficulty, as well as weight.
BlueRedWhite Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Those BCR pics are the best... But i was thinking, the most unique highly customized Hamer that it could ever be done would have this inlays in the neck : "Feynman says it best" edit to add: (i would get one, best inside motto ever)
Siaip Ciuvas Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 The Punisher gets my vote: ..and not so long ago The Punisher got his chrome hardware back, when The Riff got his black parts in exchange
jwhitcomb3 Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 "Most unique?" Isn't like asking which historical figure is the most dead? If something is one of a kind, it is unique. It can't be more or less one of a kind than anything else that is one of a kind. So my vote is for all of 'em.
bubs_42 Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Greg: show off. /quote] No....THIS is showing off..... I've said it before this is my Ultimate Hamer!
Armitage Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 I don't know if they're The Most Unique... but they're most drool worthy, to me anywayz!
