Very cool!

I still have mine:

I bought it NOS in '94. Not my fist choice in color, but I've grown to like it. It sounded better than a blue Chapp with boomerangs that they had at the same store. They had a few other Hamer orphans there including an red Blitz with a chrome Kahler, a TLE with a maple top, a Chapp with a lime green mteallic finish and a TOM bridge/stop tailpiece (!) and a later model Chapp Sustainiac that they wanted a lot more $ for. I finally chose the pink Chapp, and many other Hamers followed in the years to come.

Mine was a Ferarri Red Special with a Floyd Rose that I bought from Sam Moss in Winston-Salem, NC in 1984. I traded it in on a Standard I ordered in 1990. Serial and I spent a LOT of time in that shop and got to see a ton of really cool guitars (as David B. can attest!).

I remember more about that guitar than many of the other ones I've owned over the years, oddly enough. It came up for sale on eBay a few years ago, the Floyd had been changed and it was a little more banged up then when I last saw it, but I recognized it right away.

Right after I got it, I recall almost trading my '81 LP Custom for a Metallic Blue Special with a Kahler. Glad I kept the LP, but that guitar was fantastic.

This one. I purchased it new in 1980. Even though it doesn't get much playing time these days, I don't think I could ever sell it. Well maybe....

Three-hole USA Duo-Tone bought used from the incredible Mike Keneally. To think it took some convincing for me to pull the trigger - it's a great guitar. My big fear was that I'd treat it like a museum piece because of MK, but nope - I play that sucker.

I bought my special new in 1981. I had my "senior picture" taken with it. Click on my name to the left to see me and it in 1982.

Mine was my '97 Limited Edition Korina Vector. That's what started my whole Hamer collecting frenzy. The following year, Hamer sent me a Rick Nielsen Limited Edition Korina Standard with the same serial as the Vector. How cool is that?

Got this one in a pawn shop December 1982 in Jacksonville, Fl. after it's previous owner left her.

Sherry Baby is sitting in the livingroom as I type.

'97 korina Standard, purchased new @Haight-Ashbury Music (see my avatar). I think it was #14, or something, can't recall. It was a killer axe, but was a friggin' boat anchor. I traded it plus cash to a dealer for a new Standard Custom which had orangepeel problems. Traded the SC to an HFCer for a '95 SC which I still proudly own; a great guitar in every way. Lost my shirt on all the trades, but got a nice, usable instrument in return.

Haven't bought a new Hamer since...ain't interested...

I bought a used Eclipse 12-string in vintage orange in Oct. 1998. Sold it a year later to get a new Anniversary, which I knew I'd play more, and I was right. Wish I had a pic of that 12-string to share, though.

Even though I lived in Chicago and was aware of Hamers almost from the git-go, the money, the guitar, and I didn't seem to get together until much later. My first was a '93 Special FM. Still have it and it's still my go-to 'something with humbuckers'.

'79 dotneck trans cherry Sunburst, purchased 3/80. First Hamer I ever had my hands on and knew it had to be MINE. Waited tables in an Italian restaurant for a couple of months to get it.

Stolen 10/84. I would give anything to get it back.

Would be easy to identify by a very slightly misaligned headstock graft, lack of headstock logo and back of head and neck to about third fret black lacquer. Anybody seen it? I'll trade you something for it! Also was beat to shit last time I saw it, and it was the greatest guitar I have ever owned...

78 Sunburst, bought in February 1978 at the tender age of 14. I passed on a Goldtop Les Paul that was CHEAPER, because I had seen Tull the night before.

It was stolen in 1992, and I'm still looking for it........

Vanguard HB:

Vanguard_Mood_Lighting.jpg

An absolutely sweet guitar, but my Special sounded "better" in a close enough way to make it redundant. So, away it went. Still, Mahogany Artist HB's are inexpensive enough that I won't be surprised if I end up with another one someday.

Mine was a snake skin Cali standard.82 or.84 vintage I believe? And came by it as a fluke in a trade deal...I have not looked back and it's the only guitar I will own and use....cept of course for my yearly Les Paul itch I have to scratch from time to time...
