carfish7 Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 OK, since the grey matter won't allow total recall (or anywhere close), a top 10 will have to suffice. In no particular order; Marshall 2554 1x12 combo in black. Can I call it a Jubilee if it ain't silver? Marshall 3203 Artist w/matching 1965A 4x10 c-13 mod = Rawk! Lots of getting to know maintenance of tube amps in the past 30 years, too. I had that Deluxe home for all of 45 minutes before before I let the smoke out of that one. Thanks for the trip down the memory hole.

G Man Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 This one's pretty easy for me as I only really started playing electrics about 3 years or so ago, before that I played pretty much acoustic exclusively for like 20 years or so. During most of that time I have a VOX Venue 100 ss that I picked up back in the early 90s. When I started playing electric again I got an Epi Valve Jr w/a Avatar 2x12 cab that was unreasonable in its noticeable lack of tone. Next came a Blues Jr that I modded with BillM mods and a C Rex. Sounded good, but could never beat all the rattles out of it. Then got a deal on my Genz Benz Black Pearl head, added an Alpha Pup 1x12 with a Tone Tubby Alnico and rock it to this day. Along the way I have also owned a 78 Champ and a 65 Gibson Skylark GA-5, (still own,) and recently picked up a hand-wired Tweed based 18 watt 1x12 combo w? an old Stevens TruSonic speaker from the 50s that sounds killer. I am sure there are more to come, but to be honest, I'm very happy with my amps right now, although wouldn't mind picking up some sort of Dumble clone head in the future. It just never ends.

crunchee Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 WAY too damn many. Sounds like a question a wife or girlfriend would ask, for future reference to either get me into the doghouse or restrict my buying ability/wish list, or both. Me being a guy, I reserve the right to plead selective amnesia.
blackfbiv Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Probably easier for most bass players... In order of appearance... Mann 50 watt tube combo w/single 15. GREAT sounding amp...specially with a Peavey 2x10 or similar instead of the 15". AMP BH220 (solid state) + Axe 'Sugar scoop cab' single 15 on top and a BIG folded vent/horn underneath. Threw bass 72 miles I tell ya!!! Not much good on stage. traded in on an Ampeg 8x10. Next was an early 70's SVT head. Ran that cab 8x10 quite nicely. Came across a V6B Ampeg cab on the cheap. The combo of the 8x10 and 2x15's was pretty collossal.. Sold that rig... still stings... Now I run a Traynor YBA200 - 200 watter, all tube... into a Traynor 8x8 cab. Picked up a Trademark 10 from darc a few years back (one day i'll learn more than 3 chords) ... and a small Traynor bass combo for use in the living room.
