psc3251 Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Hey Austin, Try Bareknuckles...... my 91 Sunburst has a Steve Stevens- it's very controllable and sounds great (about 13K)- but they do a great selection of fantastic pick-ups. Check out the website for better hot- PAF comparisons http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/main/ My PRS has Bareknuckle Nailbombs....brilliant.... Funny you talking about a Distortion in the neck position- my 92 Sunburst has a Super Distortion in the neck and a Dimarzio Tone Zone in the bridge- I love the sounds from that guitar... I'm the same- all my guitars have different pick-ups in them....no point in them sounding the same, I say.. Cheers Dave
Scottcrud Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 His modern vintage PAF+ looks very interesting. I actually bought a P90 from him a few years back and it was pretty nice, plus he's a good guy.-AustinI'm telling you Austin, call Mick, tell him what you're looking for, I'm positive he can get you something you'll love.
Mpcoluv Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 They best I have tried recently (maybe ever) is the Javelina by Sheptone, available exclusively from BB's Tone Solutions. It really does a much better Gibbons/Pearly Gates tone than the (sometimes shrill) Duncan PG.

That Mirage is in Canada now.

I'm actually planning putting a set of Manliuses on my Korina V.
Scottcrud Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 For the life of me I can't figure out why Manlius isn't that popular. Guess people like spending more for their pickups. Fine with me, I can still get them on the cheap and know that any model or custom model I buy will be kick ass or I send it back and he makes it kick ass.
