elduave Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 I'll be playing a couple of dates with these guys: First gig is Thursday 9/15 @ the Hard Rock, Baltimore (outside, 98 Rock stage). Should be interesting!
MCChris Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Nice.Take it from someone who just did it, getting back into the original hard rock thing at a nice venue is a ton of fun.
elduave Posted September 10, 2011 Author Posted September 10, 2011 I'll give a report. Dicking with a Tiny Terror, Orange 2x12 open back, and the Carl Martin PlexiTone, but the sound is just better without the pedal, and the gain dimed on the TT instead. I think I'm going to use a Tribute Legacy HB and do the volume knob thing. The SuperPro is OK, but not ideal for this gig. Cheers!
elduave Posted September 13, 2011 Author Posted September 13, 2011 They now have a video for the tune.
Ted Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 They now have a video for the tune. Very Cool Video--They have a great Sound to them. I agree with DavidB that they have a bit of King's X in them which is a very Good Thing.
elduave Posted September 17, 2011 Author Posted September 17, 2011 Turn out was hampered by a serious cold front and drizzle, the "brain" the band plays to had issues (missing backing vox and what not), but the vibe among us was real good and Nokio (singer/leader) seemed happy and impressed. Nokio was/is the songwriter/produder/rapper/hype man behind Dru Hill, a Baltimore R&B/vocal group that sold a bunch of records. Interesting project, this Black Angel Down! Couple more local gigs are on, plus a Philly date and NYC at The Biter End!
santellavision Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 I like the last shot! Rockin' big blue!
zenmindbeginner Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 SISQO, the guy who wrote the "Thong Song" was in Dru Hill FWIW.You look totally rockin' on that stage man, CONGRATS!It just occurred to me that we look a lot alike.You could clearly be my stunt double.
MCChris Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Cool photos!Not that I mind, but what happened to this:I think I'm going to use a Tribute Legacy HB and do the volume knob thing. The SuperPro is OK, but not ideal for this gig.

The SuperPro is OK, but not ideal for this gig.I was bending chords out of tune with the strings it had on it, no time to change them, and just felt more comfortable with the SP. Ended up nixing the Carl Martin though. SP--->TU2--->Tiny Terror--->2x12.
Frank Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 The Bitter End is a cool club. It's tiny, but the cool factor is through the roof.
mathman Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 looks like a great show. Wish I was up that way to see it live.
cmatthes Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 EL--->SP--->TU2--->Tiny Terror--->2x12 = RAWK
elduave Posted September 21, 2011 Author Posted September 21, 2011 SISQO, the guy who wrote the "Thong Song" was in Dru Hill FWIW.Yup. There's talk of a show with Sisqo and Dru Hill.

Jack C Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 From last weekend in Columbia, MD. Pardon the clam.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgGZPgmr3u8Next show NYC!Badass! You mentioned that the "brain" has backing vox in it. Were the vox in this video live? They sounded great, as did everything else.
cmatthes Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Excellent stuff, EL!!Safe travels to the Big Apple.
