bubs_42 Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 I love you guys, but I can't stand reading the dribble that gets posted in these type of threads. I'm willing to guess that 99.5% don't know what's going on NOW or in the FUTURE. Nor do we understand WHAT Hamer is or WHAT it is about as a whole. Everyone of us does have a story about how we found the brand that we LOVE and hold dear to our hearts. Was it the 70's,80's,90's,2000's that you found Hamer? That puts a specific angle on a "Point of Greatness" for the brand. Bar none as far as QC goes the last go at it set the bar and I was so miffed that I didn't put in a C/O and I was kinda angry at myself, but guess what.... It may or may not be over. Never Say Never, hope that if they come back from the ashes QC does not suffer.
diablo175 Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 I got nothing to contribute in defense or dispute of... aside from the hope that Cmatthes is, somehow, correct.

zorrow Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 The Hamer brand has a historical weight which is heavy enough so that it will eventually resurrect. I would bet on that too. This will happen! But... when and how? Well, we don't know. But it will.I don't agree. The lack of said "weight" is a big reason why the situation is what it is.I don't see how putting to bed a brand that wasn't strong to begin with lends itself to bringing it back with any modicum of success.I think the outcome is what it is today for lack of good marketing policies and because Jol was too stubborn to build the high-end models that his customers really wanted. However, Hamer guitars have been in the hands of many well-known players and do have a rich history. When the brand started, Hamer competed against Gibson at the same level than Dean. They have counted in their ranks artists like Glenn Tipton, KK Downing, Rick Nielsen, Jeff Watson, Brad Gillis, Steve Steven, Jeff Waters, Frank Aresti... and I pass! Hey, they even have Kev Bower from Hell! With all this baggage, plus the fact that the quality of their guitars is awesome, the Hamer brand does have a value and sooner or later someone will re-launch it.It only takes the good timing, the right investors... and the right endorsements (for example, Dean scored the endorsement of Dimebag Darrell, who was a young player at the time and became a super-star)
