rj2858 Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Side 2 only - not a fan of side 1, but oh, what a great half an album side 2 is!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSlpeifq9bA Quote
JohnnyB Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Spun Tom Waits' Swordfishtrombones (1982) and Nighthawks at the Diner (1975) on original vinyl yesterday. Going back for more tomorrow. Swordfishtrombones is just about the best sounding album I have (and that's saying something), and is sufficient reason on its own to get a good stereo. Quote

gorch Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 New Boston and new APC (greatest hits). Are you happy with the new Boston? I haven't seen one positive review yet. Quote
Hamersaur Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 ^^^^^^ I got it on loan from a friend and I am still not sure if I would purchase it myself. Has a few songs with Brad Delp on vocals (I guess this album was 10 years in the making) and has the typical Tom Sholtz (is that spelled correct?) guitar pretty much throughout. I would give it an average rating. Nowhere near the quality of their first album (still gets lots of rotation at my house) but that would be pretty hard to beat. Quote
carfish7 Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Winery Dogs here......And some old ZZ Top on vinyl just because I can. Quote
LordOfTheThighs Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Been running thru my KISS mega playlist, on shuffle.A handful of tunes off each album ... except Crazy Nights ... BLEELCH! Quote
Jack C Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Finally digging into Sabbath (I'm only 40 years late to the party). Been spinning the debut, Mob Rules and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Those guys were pretty good. 2 Quote

Only a few bands manage to top best selling albums. The 4th had been a runner for me for a while. I still love it. The real Boston sound had not been on the first album. Actually, it developed over time. The Rockman modules were in the 80s. I still love to play the XPR rack size preamp.I'm pretty much into Carl Verheyen right now. The new album has a lot to discover. The 9th song has a fiddle in there, I first thought it were a guitar played through a vintage amp. Quote

TBP Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Recently got the ZZ Top '70-'90 set, mainly for the non-eightiesified versions of the first five albums. Those five have been in rotation with Clutch's Earth Rocker and Julian Lage's Gladwell for the past week or so. Quote

JohnnyB Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Ooh, I just played that Friday (on vinyl). Gonna start today with Ravel's Bolero. From there, who knows? Maybe some Beatles, maybe some Miles Davis, Gary Burton, Jim Hall, or Brubeck. Quote
