Disturber Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 So I read last weeks Premier Guitar and found a long article about this guy called Anders Osbourne. Never heard of him, but it turns out he's a Swede that lived in New Orleans for some + 20 years. I don't know what it is about New Orleans that makes Swedes create such great music - we got Theresa Andersson there as well (seems they've been living together too)- but it seems it's a mix made in heaven. Turns out this guy has been travelling around the globe busking on the streets before settling in New Orleans. He's released albums since 1995. http://www.allmusic....ne-mn0000026276 Great bluesy, rootsy stuff. And he's got a great guitar style as well. I will order some of his CDs from Amazon soon. In the meantime I have been digging him on Youtube for a week. Check him out: I love the Van Morrison-esque, Tom Waits-ish feeling of this tune. Beautiful songwriting, it goes directly for the heart. http://www.myspace.c...dersosbornenola http://www.andersosborne.com/
JGale Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 NICE! but that drummer is having just too much fun though!
velorush Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Nothing says Swedo-Cajun blues-rock like a Sousaphone! Reminded me of Waits, as well. Very nicely done. One of the most helpful things about Premier Guitar for me has been their profiles of these great but lesser-known artists. Given I live in the sticks, I'd never get to hear any of this music but for the combined efforts of PG and YouTube. Thanks for posting, Disturber!
belgian Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Big fan - just found his second album (Break the chain). I have nine Cd's from him, only missing his first one and the second live at Tipitina's.

They seem out of print. He will be playing with Govt Mule in Jamaica it seems.
Roshark Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Anders Osbourne is great . I would recommend seeing him live, particularly in New Orleans . A couple of years ago he did an album that Stanton Moore played drums on and produced . If you like music with a groove New Orleans is the place to be . It is infectious ! "Stoned, drunk and naked" is my favorite Anders song . It captures the essence of the Crescent City and Anders Osbourne .
