Floyd Rose parts advice saught

Question

Hey gang,

I picked up a Slammer Series Centaura (I think it's a Centaura) off eBay at a great price to have a Floyded shredder in the stable.

It showed up yesterday sans bar, missing one nut lock and, when I went to change the strings today, I discovered the 6th string saddle block insert was broken.

Question: would there ever have been different sized saddle blocks in all the permutations of Floyds out there?

Here's the bridge. Anything special I should know about it when buying parts- differently sized parts or tremelo threads through the ages to watch out for?

The guitar itself is fun. 24 frets, rad silver-flake black indestructible finish, powerful bridge pup with a coil-cutting micro-switch. I dropped my E to D and cranked out some Ratt "Lay it Down." A blast for $130 delivered, + a few parts.

I think that looks great, unfortunately, I don't know enough about the bits you need to help with this query.

I do very much like Centauras!

130 bucks is silly price, well done!

As the original Schallers were German and the licensed copies Far Eastern everything should be metric and fit fairly well.

The saddles come in different heights (Es lower then the A/B lower than the D/G) so make sure you get one of the right height.

SOME saddles come in different heights (not ALL) = it depends on the model of Floyd & if saddles are actually set for a rounder radius neck. Most are the same height on Floyds nowadays (esp copies/licensed). Either buy a full set (not expensive) or just the one you need. I'd personally buy a new set of the best quality...

Those are the "original" style. (Edit - those are not the original style saddles...) Be sure to get a visual on any replacement you buy - getting a different style saddle will "look funny". :)

As far as the height - Look underneath the one you took out. There will (hopefully) be a little circle stamped into the bottom. The circle will either be empty, have a number 1 in it, or have a number 2 in it. The empty one are the high (thickest) saddles, usually used on the G and D strings. The ones with a 1 stamped on them are medium height, usually used on the B and A strings. The saddles with the 2 stamped on them are the low height, usually used on the E and E strings. As stated above, not all guitars have varying heights on the saddles.

Order the same replacement. Check with the dealers on the board here. I've also used this place with good results:

While yer at it, get a set of saddle inserts - those tend to break over time. I get the Titanium ones myself, although i'm sure opinions vary on that...

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the guidance. I'll be getting a set of saddle inserts; that is the busted part.

It's cleaned up real nice and it will be good to have all the bits in place.

Funny how some of my less expensive guitars are the more fun ones; a Peavey Firenza I got for a hundred, this one, and my number one, a well-loved Daytona for two-fitty.

I only acknowledge Hamers so would never have seen a later Floyd. The Floyd above is stepped height as is the natural order of things. The idea of equal height saddles is clearly an abomination.

So true! I have bought used $100 Peavey imports that are almost as good as my 92 Cent...
