Really enjoyed this (saw it when it was first aired).

Great singer and songwriter too.

He comes across as a real, nice geezer feckd up by drugs and lucky to come back out the other end alive.

"I could outplay Sooty, just don't put Sweep on whatever you do"

Thanks for the posting.

Disturber - Thanks for posting. This should send us back to the recordings. A Hard Road 2 cd deluxe edition collects all the tracks Green did with Mayall. There's a lot there in addition to the original album. There is a Blue Horizon 6-cd box set that collects original tracks and outtakes including Blues Jam in Chicago. Then Play On is available. If HFC member Johnny Thunders is around, he would sing the praises of the post-Fleetwood Mac album The End of the Game. 2 compilations on Receiver -- The Vaudeville Years and Showbiz Blues -- contain a bunch of takes from the Then Play On era including some live stuff. Live stuff with decent sound includes Shrine '69, 3 cds Live at the Boston Tea Party, and Live at the BBC. Green and the band appear on two albums by Eddie Boyd -- Eddie Boyd and his Blues Band featuring Peter Green and 7936 South Rhodes. The band also played behind Otis Spann on Spann's The Biggest Thing Since Colossus. The only latter-day Green that I've heard with the Splinter Group is the Robert Johnson covers. It's great that Green is playing, but my understanding is that he had to re-learn technique. The documentary doesn't say it, but Jeremy Spencer left the band soon after and "found religion." I believe that Spencer is performing and recording again. Danny Kirwan was kicked out of the band a couple albums later for erratic behavior. I believe it was alcohol abuse. So far as I know, he was wandering around London homeless during the 1980s and 1990s. Not sure of his present whereabouts.

Tbabinec, good summary. I have all those CDs and LOVE Green's playing.....different from EC, just killer tone and phrasing.

I really like the difference between PG, Kirwan, and Spencer....Kirwan had an explosive, wild vibrato and was a rock player extraordinaire, Peter was the emotional blues master, and Jeremy was Elmo James in Britain. I have played the Mac version of Black Magic Woman in bands for years and it always stumps people Fleetwood Mac wrote it, even more so when you tell them they were originally a killer blues band. Love them.

I eat the popcorn first, just so I won't get hungry when I indulge the beer. I don't like to break up a beer party beacuse of hunger.

Last I heard Peter Green was doing okay.

I remember that post, or article, by Jol Danzig where he had met Peter and Peter had told him that he had picked up this used guitar that now was his number one. It was a Hamer Miller guitar. Any one else remember this story?

Edit. Thanks for Google. I found it here on the HFC:

He has always been a great fan of Peter Green, who left the music business in the seventies because of health problems. Recently, Peter Green's health has improved sufficiently for him to make something of a low key comeback. On the lookout for new instruments to tour with, he found and bought a Miller Music guitar for sale in a store in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England. In September of 1998 Jol had a chance to spend some time with Peter Green and was surprised to find that his current favorite guitar is a Miller Music six string (the partner to the bass shown above). I will let Jol complete the story.

Peter Greens version of the Stumble was one of the first things I (almost) learnt how to play.

I'd forgotten how good he was/is, now I'm going to have to buy all these recordings again...............
