onguitar Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Music demands an emotional response and it is hard to get turned on by a robot no matter how hairy he is.What I like about the Valduriez solo is how raw and exciting it is after the pedestrian intro, and when she bends that note four times and hits a different pinch harmonic each time it is super cool. With the dude I watched and, though impressed, only thought about technical issues the whole time - like: 'hmm I wish my left-right hand coordination was that good', and 'the economy of movement is quite something to behold' - but never once did I feel a shiver or a quiver.

So yes, there is a dude with a beard that I would say is not mediocre. I don't admire the guy but he does have some chops. As onguitar stated so eloquently, it's an emotional response I felt with both these songs.

I'm guessing you fall into the same category as most others who bad mouth a certain style of playing. "Couldn't play it even if you wanted to so you write it off as lack of soul or something else." Meet kettle oops, edited to add and "it's all good" I stand by my original statement, if this was a guy playing the exact same thing or just audio, without video, it never would have been posted here. It's only because it is a girl playing that it was posted. If I'm not mistaken this same video was posted a while back and we went through this same conversation, difference was, the last time most agreed that it would have been much less impressive if it was a guy playing. Same senario goes for a young kid playing guitar, what is impressive for a young kid to be playing becomes less so as an adult.

I simply stated that if you wanted to compare girlfriends/ wife’s, you could post a picture of yours and I would gladly post a picture of mine for comparisons sake. Same goes for guitar playing, feel free to post some audio or video of you playing and I will do the same for comparisons sake. As the saying goes put up or shut up, or you could always come back with some disparaging comment to mask your inability to back up your comments.

He's brought home some lookers but none with a guitar.
