cmatthes Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Priced less than a new imported Strat? Somebody should give this one some love... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hamer-Monaco-Elite-Mahogany-Vintage-Cherry-/261169967446?pt=Guitar&hash=item3ccef17156
Jakeboy Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Such a shame those most excellent guitars don't command more money. I loved mine, but couldn't pass up an equally mint 360 straight up as an even trade.MONELMs are great.
bubs_42 Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Little money to an HFC'er with some skills and that would be a killer
django49 Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 If I am not mistaken, the same seller (with no prior feedback at all) has listed one or two other Hamers recently. A bit strange that none were offered (or would ship) with a case. Makes me wonder if perhaps someone snatched and ran off with them and is now trying to unload(?). Not a rocket scientist IF trying to do that on eBay..
Feynman Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I dunno - it seems like they sit forever when someone offers one for $800. $600 without a case, while good, doesn't shock me.Then again, I may have developed a bad attitude over this ridiculous 2013 Challenge.
bubs_42 Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I feel absolutely ok with the 2013 Challenge if that helps out any.
MarkF786 Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 What do they sound like without a maple cap? I've often wondered if the maple is mostly just cosmetic. The guy lives about 30 minutes from me. If it doesn't sell on eBay, maybe I'd offer him $450 cash.
a.bandini Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 He takes pictures of it in a case, what looks to me like a non-original case, but the case isn't included? Seems odd to me, but I realize there could be reasons why it makes sense.
veatch Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 ...but clearly is a quality seller. His ID even says so.
edgar_allan_poe Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 These were spectacular sounding guitars. Greg had one of these in TV yellow and it was stunningly good sounding.
LucSulla Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 I was thinking about giving it a shot as I like the way my special sounds more than my studio. A solid hog, LP style guitar would be cool to try out I think. However, the crappy pics and lack of case make me not want to give this one a go.
bubs_42 Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 What this needs is a Sustainblock and some Stike Sparkle Gold Paint! Damn i'm out of Sustainblocks
Disturber Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 I bet it will sound just as sweet, or sweeter, than my band mates 3500 dollar all mahogany Gibson Custom Les Paul with Burstbucker, and to a about a seventh of the price.
Jakeboy Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 They aren't as bright as a maple-capped 'hog LP style but they sound wonderful and play great. You may have to swap pickups a bit as I did to find the magic .....but just a wonderful guitar.
Ting Ho Dung Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Has anyone else noticed the amount of dust on that thing? Look at the back photo.
