veatch Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 All kinds of kick arse right there, sir. Love the checkerboard.
Jackass Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Duncan 59 double black in the neck, Duncan custom double black in the bridge, Hamer mini black tuners, Schaller liscensed Floyd, strap locks, hard to get logo and a bitchin fretboard. Jackass Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 I am currently getting an attractive young lady lined up to shoot with theguitar this evening.....Caliber?Is that Ambrose's Duotone? Wiring that was quite the ride.
diablo175 Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Duncan 59 double black in the neck, Duncan custom double black in the bridge, Hamer mini black tuners, Schaller liscensed Floyd, strap locks, hard to get logo and a bitchin fretboard. When I was jamming on it, my eyes were going buggy! Thanks Greg for the help with the posting! I KNEW it! To be honest I did NOT know what was in there as of this morning but after I played it for the first time at BCR Music, I knew they were the Duncan Custom/'59 set.
jettster Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Never been a fan of checker board guitars.........That is....... Until now!!! Awesome guitar!!! Great color combo, enjoy that one.
diablo175 Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Giggadee Not sure how that combo eventually came to be; I don't recall specifying p'ups when I ordered. But kudos to you and/or to BCR Greg for making that combo the final choice. You guys ROCK!
RobB Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Really nice, diablo. The colors are perfect! Why did it take TWO YEARS to complete? Was it because of the ramp-down of Hamer production?I'm not being facetious, just curious...
coolfeel Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 The best Diablo I have seen concrats its a killerYup Even More Awesome Diablo - No Doubt :-)
diablo175 Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Really nice, diablo. The colors are perfect! Why did it take TWO YEARS to complete? Was it because of the ramp-down of Hamer production? In a word, yes.
diablo175 Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 That thing rocks my socks off. Me, too. I'm currently standing here, sock-less. What a conundrum.
crunchee Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Really nice, diablo. The colors are perfect! Why did it take TWO YEARS to complete? Was it because of the ramp-down of Hamer production? In a word, yes.The Hamer crew was doing some work for Guild at the same time as well, weren't they? I would imagine that the powers that be were keeping them plenty busy. Maybe Jackass can add info on that if he wishes.BTW, welcome to the HFC, Jackass!
Jackass Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 The reason they take so long is that Dave Brown, Gary Pirro and myself (Hamer crew for the past 4-5 years, Dave - block of wood into a masterpiece guitar in raw wood stage, Gary- all finishes, including insane graphics {me sanding in between coats}, me - sand guitar, buff guitar, assemble parts, wire, setup, jam!). Everyday the priority has been Guild production first, then Hamer if we have time. Of course, because of the small Guild workforce, everyday we are jammed with Guild work. Once every three weeks or so, we'll try and sneak 10 - 15 minutes or so on one until somebody says "Hey! What in the fuck do you think your doing! Put down that Hamer and step away from the bench slowly. If you don't do as we say, we'll have to call in backup. Before we get back to work on the Guilds we are instructed to shower first to get the Hamer skank off us so it doesn't get on the Guilds. You know, chocolate in my peanut butter thing. We still have 5-6 custom orders coming through. Look forward to working on them. I'm going to wear fake nose and glasses while wearing a trench coat with nothing on underneath while working on them. Maybe they won't see me. As a side note, I worked at Guild guitars in Westerly, RI from 1983-2002 when they moved and we had a lot of fun. So, that is why they take so long. I hope this helps.
diablo175 Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 That rocks! A matching outfit is definitely in order! Only some checked Vans. Wouldn't want to borrow another member of the HFC's gimick, now would I?
coolfeel Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Hey Jackass - do not want to hijack the thread, just wanted to give big props to you and the rest of the Hamer guys not only on this incredible Custom Cali but also my Koa/Wenge Chaparral you guys did a year ago!!! I love mine!!!
