ARM OF HAMER Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 I thought the early chapters on how Hamer Guitars all got started was fascinating..............how all the guys got together from playing music to collecting guitars to building guitars............... the book goes into a lot of detail.[And the Photos are top notch!]This is the best guitar book I believe I have had the pleasure of reading.Steve and all the people that put this book together really knocked it out of the park! Hope there is a followup!
elduave Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 my family and i had lunch with frank u when we visited Martin guitars this week. Ariana didn't realize he was there essentially since the beginning. Great convo with one of the big three! Frank has not seen the book yet, and I'm waiting til the book release party September 7th in Olney, md at my store. Blatant plug!
G Man Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Well, I truly enjoyed reading this. Having finished it, however, I do have one question. Why no mention of the Talladega anywhere? Are we just not supposed to talk about it? As thorough as the book is, this seems like some odd revisionist history out to erase the reality of, what many think to be, one of Hamer's greatest designs. Reasoning? Inquiring minds want to know.
cmatthes Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 "Revisionist history"?! Hardly. There was a Talladega section. That and some other stuff was cut by the publisher for space. Pretty sure you'll see PLENTY in Vol.2...

Congrats! Thanks for the kind words, Zorrow, and everyone else. The support has been overwhelming! I did a short radio interview about the book that can be found here: http://wnku.org/post/local-authors-top-amazons-book-list-ultimate-hamer-guitars-illustrated-historyI don't really get a chance in the interview to say anything most people on HFC don't already know, but at least the word about Hamer guitars is spreading further!
Hamerica Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Anathemata,Enjoyed the radio interview, I would also suggest you make this a separate topic post. Best wishes,Hamerica
