MCChris Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Fucking awesome. Saw them live once and the guitarists had the Page tones NAILED through a pair of Fender Champs.
Toadroller Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Dread's first two albums are in constant rotation in my music collection. Have been for twenty years. Never gets old.I've deciphered many a Zeppelin lyric thanks to Tortelvis.
unfun75 Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Where did they find those guitars? The lead guy looks like he made a Danelectro in shop class and then added a Floyd.
mathman Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Just fucking awesome! how did I miss these guys????
BlueRedWhite Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I've listen to them in the past, the guy just nails Elvis so good.First time i heard them i thought it was Elvis...playing raggae??? LOLPretty original
Stafford Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I saw them in 92 or 93 up here in Canada at the University of Guelph's Peter Clark hall. What a night, they blew the doors off the place!
blackfbiv Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Had an opportunity to open for them here in Edmonton, Canada way back then... one of those 3 pm calls...One of the guys had disappeared, so we had to pass... bummer indeed!
crunchee Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Dread's first two albums are in constant rotation in my music collection. Have been for twenty years. Never gets old.^This^. "Misty Mountain Hop" and "Train Kept A Rollin'" are faves of mine, right off the top of my head. I remember reading something about the Presley estate was going to sue them into oblivion, when DZ first hit in the early '90's, but thought better of it when they heard that Robert Plant liked their stuff.
Hackubus Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Yeah, DZ's first two records are pretty good spins. I'm starting to miss the 90s too a little bit.
Jimbilly Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I have always loved their music, I think it's Unleded that is early best cd?, I have spun the heck out of that one. I have a dvd of a show somewhere in the Midwest, on a rainy day, I'll have to look around for that one too. The Christmas cd is a little thin, but has some enjoyable bits. Yes, Un-Led-Ed is by far my favorite one, from 1990. If you're into this sort of thing with that sort of sense of humor, Un-Led-Ed is a sure thing, it's very well done. As you may know, Elvis came to Tortelvis in a vision, and told him to play Led Zeppelin songs as an Elvis impersonator, but in a Reggae style.
