Guest pirateflynn Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 An eBay score. Actually in better shape than I thought it would be. Check it out.......
Guest pirateflynn Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Along with drilling holes for the mini-toggles the original owner painted over the serial # while touching up some chips.........ouch!
hamertek98 Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 That looks to be a fun project. Good score. Hows the headstock face? The rest doesn't look bad at all.
Submariner85 Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Nice one. I don't care for putting stickers on my guitars. Kinda like bumper stickers.....don't like those either.
Guest galejt Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 That looks to have the wide spaced sustain block saddles. It should play quite nicely. Good score. Give it to me.
DEMENTED Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Ahhhh, now I know who outbid my cheap-ass! LOL. I wanted it but was scared it might be too f*cked up.
tomteriffic Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Damn, Flynn, you've been on a roll here lately. Now I'm SURE you don't have room for the graphic Special.
Jeff R Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Not my bag personally. Not enough pickup pole pieces. So are those M22s or M22SDs?
Guest pirateflynn Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Not my bag personally. Not enough pickup pole pieces. So are those M22s or M22SDs? Yeah.....I know. The PUs are Carvin's of some type. I'm going close to original with the restoration. This is a great looking guitar.

I'm going close to original with the restoration. This is a great looking guitar. Carvin, ouch!! Probably some 80's metal guitar. But the guitar looks in decent enough condition to be savedback to past glories.Good Luck! And post progress pics.
kizanski Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 An eBay score. Actually in better shape than I thought it would be. ...and it's in A LOT better shape than mine was!Check it out.Good luck with yours.
LarryC Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Excellent score pirateflynn...and she looks to be in very good condition. What p/u's are you gonna put on it?kizanski, looks like BCR did a hell of a job on your axe too! Niiiiiiiiiiiiice.....bof uv yas!LC
hardheartedbill Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 cool! I had one exactly like that in original condition way back in 83ish, damn would not stay in tune for love nor money so some of the early one were kinda crazy as to tuning stability ( nobody could figure out why, it looked fine and all the specs measured out fine, a weird phenomenon )
Guest pirateflynn Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 It's on it's way to BCRGreg tomorrow.Kizanski, your guitar is definately an inspiration. Thanks for the kind words you guys and I'll post a headstock pic when my girl gets home with the camera.Very exciting!
BCR Greg Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 I can't wait!Gonna be Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!
Guest pirateflynn Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 Here's a pic of the Headstock face for hamertech98........
BCR Greg Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 Looks like a 79 to me. I love the "Sunburst" logo in that typeset. When I was a kid, my dad was a pilot for United Airlines, and they had the "Friendly Skies" deal going back then using the same Bookman Bold Italic lettering.Ah, memories.I designed it, you know.
Guest pirateflynn Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 A little 400 steel wool on the back of the headstock might answer that........I can't wait!
Hamer95USA Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 Hey pirtateflynn, I saw that guitar on E-bay and thought it was a good deal if you wanted to do the repairs to bring it back to its stock specifications. The Carvin mods were awful. Why didn't the owner just buy a Carvin or modify the volume and tone pots? When I bought my '95 Studio, all of my volume and tone pots were push/pull pots. I didn't care for the sound and had my local guitar repairman put everything back to stock. I recently changed the bridge and neck pickups volume pots to where the bridge pickup volume knob is in front and the neck volume knob is in the middle. I'm a lot happier with the functionality of the guitar now and find it easier to adjust the volume knobs when I play on it. I need to now contact Kim Keller for original Hamer volume and tone pots. I would love to see how the restoration project will turn out. Who's going to do the restoration work? BCR Greg? Guitar George
