hikarateboy Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 I want to thank Carfish for this one and admit that I am the friend he was talking about. Its been a hard 3 weeks here at our house. This story is probably one for the outer circle but in that time my son was jumped by 6 kids outside a football game and they while the didnt get his bike for holding on for deal life they went in his pockets while kicking him and punching him on the ground and grabbed his samsung galaxy s III. The feeling of having your child having to deal with that is very hard and I was on edge for a whileA week and a half later our house was broken into and they grabbed the small stuff. ipads, money, etc. Pretty much all you could carry in a back pack. I took precautions immediately and started securing the doors with new locks and 3 foot steel bars in the door jams and stayed home from work the rest of that week knowing they they had seen what was there.Feeling better I went to work this morning and got a call from my wife who was in tears saying they broke in and got your guitars. 7 gone in all along with almost everything else of value in the house. imac, home server, hard drives you name it. They had pried open a basement window. I have since screwed all of them shut. 3 police reports later its hard to keep my chin up right now but everyone is ok and things are replaceable. I live in a great neighborhood and am not going anywhere. Still insurance is saying 2500 deductible PER incident so its a hard hit. I so very much appreciate the real friends I have here.
gorch Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 It damn looks like you had been in focus for whatever reason. Then there is no chance to avoid this. It appears to me like a chain of incidents starting at your son. It might be the same guys who kicked him had followed him to his home. Just my speculation. Anyways, it's nice to hear everyone is fine.
hikarateboy Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 There could be a relation but nothing so far that the police are able to connect much less follow up on. It's hard, I believe they are over worked, and over burdened I was told 6 policemen on duty at a time in our precinct. 2 per car which equals 3 cars for at least 10 sq miles in my estimation. As such I am awake for yet another night past 3 am watching. It sucks. I will remain vigilant and protect my family if they come after us again. It does seem to be targeted, I truly hope that is not the case. Sorry for sounding melodramatic but I am concerned as I think anyone would be when people have come into their home in such a manner. It just really sucks that people that would do something like this with the thought that their motivation could be even greater than material gain. Frankly it's scary as hell not so much for me but that it could get even worse for my wife, my son and my daughter. I just don't get why some people would do that. Sucks, but there are people worse off than me in this world and my problems pale in comparison so I can feel lucky in that regard. It's just stuff after all. Still sucks and a bit scary I will admit.
Ralph Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Man, that really sucks. I hate thieves. Hopefully they do something stupid to get caught.
burningyen Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Shit, Ted, what a nightmare. Sorry to hear you're going through this.
RichRS6 Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Death is too good a punishment for scumbags who do this sort of thing.
BlueRedWhite Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Ted, looks like you were being targeted, plus, they know when you're home and when not, so they might live near...If it is the same &*(*&**( that assaulted your boy, they are not that hot trying to sell stolen stuffI do wish you get everything back soon!
hamerhead Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Wow, Ted. That's terrible. I'm keeping my eyes peeled on the local CLs. Good luck, bud. There are just enough sh!theads in the world to make it suck every now and then. Thankfully we have them outnumbered.
cmatthes Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 There is a special rung in Hell for thieves. Ted - I am so sorry this happened to you guys.
Hamerica Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Ted, sorry to hear about this. As a teenager my families house was broken into. There is nothing worse than the lose of sense of security. The "local police" will not catch them without help and sometimes a good hard well placed kick in the ass. I should know my Dad was in law enforcement at the time and he put the pieces together, gave it to the local police department and because of that they were caught. Unfortunately what was stolen was long gone.My uncles house was broken into twice in another state in another major metropolitan city. They "walked in" on the day time burglary with everything left on the bed wrapped up in sheets. They made another attempt less than a week and were caught red handed going out the back door. In both cases, it was people that lived in the neighborhood less than two blocks. "Ted, looks like you were being targeted, plus, they know when you're home and when not, so they might live near..."- Blue Red WhiteI hope you find them and your property. I also hope you and your family regain your peace of mind and security. best wishes, Hamerica
django49 Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Ted:Best wishes for a recovery of goods, but much more so for return to a more secure peace of mind. I know a bit about the trauma of losing that feeling when there is an intrusion into a person's life/personal space.I hope they are able to track down the criminals based upon the goods, feedback from your son, maybe tracking the phone, etc. As stated above, they are probably very near by and made a connection from one incident to the others. Hope the police put a stop to their nonsense.
dragan Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 best of luck on recovering both security & stuff
