If, in-fact, the guitar is MINT, I would consider paying that.....on a layaway plan....lol.

nice pics, I think that is possible an ultimate grade top.

but I gotta say, quote below... the line " You might get a better price from an amateur desperate for cash" is kind of

a turnoff... he could easily sell the thing on it's own merits.

Will be super well packed to survive just about anything. Don't trust anyone else to get something like this to you safely... For the record, we have shipped over 5000 guitars internationally. No one does it better. You might get a better price from an amateur desperate for cash...but will your guitar make it alive?

Who'll be the first to offer "What it is worth to me?"

The seller meestursparkle has been mentioned here previously and seems to have a good reputation as a dealer.

The import duty would probably kill it for most of us but thats a real nice looking Standard..

Murkat once wrote there are no US customs charges for a US-made guitar being "repatriated" to the US.

Correct. No import charge. was made in USA. Zero, nada.

I'd probably be the last to take a shot at what someone prices something at anyway, but in the case of something like this, if you really want a Standard, (and this one is a beauty), what are your choices?

Wait for another? Yeah, maybe. Having a new custom order built? Oops - not so much, and if you could, wouldn't the sticker on that say somewhere near $5000?

Seeing what people pay for Les Paul R9's and such, is this really too much? If that's what the market is, so be it. If you can't afford it, or don't think it's right, well, my dad paid $2800 for his first new car in 1960, but that ain't coming back either.

Rich is in the UK, so he would likely get pounded with import duties, VAT, etc.

 wow, that is one kick ass standard! price may be a little high, but maybe not considering the condition, that top and the fact that there will be no more made? somebody needs to jump on this one before I have the weekend to seriously consider it

What's the price? Specs? I can't see ebay at work. I'll have to check it out tonight. Been thinking of getting another Standard.

2001 Hamer Standard Custom, B&C in what looks to be the typical '59 burst finish with what some apparently consider better than average flame.

Only $2780 to your door.

That's probably over a thousand dollars more than it sold for new. True, they're not making any more, but I have a hard time wrapping my head around that.

Chris - there's a helluva echo wherever you are.

Thanks for the info Cynic! Seems pretty steep.

That's a good looking Standard, but at over 10 lbs., that is a BRICK!!

No thanks. I've never had a Standard weigh near that much.

Yeah, I noticed that too. My Standard (non-chambered) weighs less than my 9lb Les Paul.

I have to say, though, that that seller has done one thing right: photography. Too many shots, to be sure (although a serious buyer would appreciate them), but plenty of shots that flatter the guitar and enhance the look of the maple top in particular. Not too much flash going on that otherwise pushes the burnt orange/brown beauty of a '59 Burst finish into clownburst territory!

I've got two '59 Burst Hamers (Standard and Studio) and neither of them look as yellow and red in person as they did in photos from their sellers.

As beautiful as it is, I'm with you, Cary.

Lots of people out there pricing their used Hamers with added stupid tax (Ebay is peppered with them), and just because "they aren't making any more of them."

Some of us predicted that would happen, but they're going to be "for sale" for a very long time at those prices.
